erkyah should have been nom. for a grammy far as her album i know she got one for Honey for best video but i really like her album and i guess it was too much for the grammy folks far as artistic wise...."I stay woke" also on listening to good music...guess they was sleep.... I concur. Weird how an album that strong (AND commercial) can go overlooked from the nominee list.

The production on it was poor. It had a garage band vibe to it...that doesn't take anything away from the creativity of it, but I thought it deserved better mixing. 1 over Jordan...the greatest since

Do you think that is part of the Grammys' criteria for nominating albums?

With many exceptions of course and only addressing the high-profile categories, the Grammy Awards are mostly about bestowing honors to easily digestible music that's backed by money, people who can sing without offending, and legends that they overlooked decades ago when they were becoming legends.

I think the judges were right, in that it was not a cohesive CD. In my honest opinion, it sound was more commercial that anything else put out this year. It seems to me that she tries so hard to be different that at times, she ends up sounding just like the the sound that she is trying not to sound like. In the end, she sounds gimmicky. Do you think that is part of the Grammys' criteria for nominating albums? Don't know..but I don't think it helped. Saw her live and it was a totally different experience...there is really good instrumentation that gets drowned in the poor production. 1 over Jordan...the greatest since

I have to disagree. I think that her latest work is PURE TRASH, unlistenable, only for the hardcore fans (which I am not). She should be nominated for a rasberry award.

This cd was pure sh*t. I like EB but this was not a good listen.

I thought it was her best album to date. Not commercial, but ina sense a spiritual finding...its the next of kin to Ray Of Light, Rainbow Children and Velvet Rope as for popular artists. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I understand not liking it or thinking it’s not all that but damn, I wonder where it would rank amongst some of the years other releases. [Edited 12/12/08 8:53am] Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I love Erykah's latest. It's experimental in places and really makes a statement. I can't wait for "part 2" to be released in early '09.

Best R&B CD of 2008 as far as I'm concerned. Got sick of waiting on D'angelo and Maxwell to get it together.
