Does MJ challenge his fans as much as Prince does. I reckon that Prince does care about what people think but he hasn't been afraid to alienate his fans either.

i would say MJ...michael jackson fans treat mj as if he is a relative of theirs...but their love for him usually is a lot stronger..lol..im not sayin this cuz im a fan..but it's true..

whenever someone disses mj, that person gets flooded with hate mail, hate calls...etc...a lot of journalists and other celebrities have mentioned in the past NOT to diss MJ cuz his fans are vicious...and very loyal. George Carlin said this not too long ago as well.

Kate Bush fans are quite loyal, (me included) she hasn't released anything in almost 10 years and she still came third in 100 Women in Music poll recently.

biggrin

When it comes to MJ fans, you'd rather talk about "BRAINWASHING" than "LOVE"...

It's been alleged that a release could be as close as March/April next year. But i ain't gonna bet money on it!

This is a tough question because EVERY artist has loyal, devoted fans who stick with them no matter what.I visit several different artist message boards everyday, and I chat with some of the most loyal fans you would ever see. Some fans actually get pissed if you say one negative thing about the artist.I've never understood that.Just because I'm a fan doesn't mean I have to like EVERYTHING that artist does!

Yeah, DavidEye... I agree with u.

But, I also agree with other posters here who have chosen The Grateful Dead, Michael Jackson.

I'm gonna have to add Barbra Streisand... who pays those prices 4 those tickets???

What about The Rolling Stones?

The Beatles

Yeah, Elvis 2...somebody keeps goin' 2 Graceland over and over...

The Eagles... somebody keeps buying their "Greatest Hits" as it passed MJ's "Thriller" 2 b the top seller on Billboard.

All the boy bands appear 2 have a strong loyal fanbase... there's always pre-teen girls ready 2 embrace the latest addition... Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, O-Town, etc.. etc...

Janet fans are VERY loyal. I know people that drove to 9 states and paid $100 per concert for seats, not to mention hotel, gas, etc. I know Janet fans who have fan gatherings and create vacation weekends at WDW just to celebrate Janet's birthday or album release. Hell, I'm a Janet fan myself, just look at my screen name. smile

Only in the US though. Anywhere else she'll promote her ASS off for weeks and still fail to sell tickets or get a #1 in a low selling week. The poor woman had to cancel her tour outside the US and Japan because not one date was sold out.

You know, I've actually given some thought to this question and came to an unlikely conclusion, PEARL JAM. They're probably the last Seattle grunge band standing and they can still sell millions of records without any means of mega-promotion. They don't even make music videos anymore. How do they do it?
