You know as much as I loved Christina's performance.. yeah I have to agree with you in a way.

What is it called when a singer sings like that? Celine Dion sings that this, too. Is not like you know Billie Holiday with this pure voice? And last night, I was watching A Gentleman Prefers Blondes with Marilyn Monroe. I have seen old movies like Love Me or Leave Me with Doris Day or White Christmas with Rosemary Clooney. And those singers had more of a purity in their voices. Their voices weren't so back in their throats.

But even so.. what I am most impressed with Christina is her ability to interpret a song more than her voice itself--not to say her voice is bad because for me.. her voice is incredible. She rarely hits a bad note even while dancing. However, the way she sings ballads .. oh my goodness. And that performance she did with Herbie Hancock. It was really incredible. I wonder if she improvised during some of that performance, following Herbie's lead.

Now I will say, even though she does have that quality you describe, I like that Christina varies the dynamic of her voice. In other words, she does not sing loud all the time.

It just seems to me Christina is a very under-rated artist? I just do not think she is a popular as she could be. I think there IS something the public perceives about her as annoying?

I still love the way Christina interprets a song though, but there is something with the quality of her voice..

I LOOOOOVE WHITE CHRISTMAS love i have always wanted to reinact the scene where the two sisters are dancing on stage, with my own sister lol

I love all the old musicals!

Another one I love is High Society, with Louie Armstrong! I actually have.. American in Paris. Another old movie I love is Some Like it Hot. I have a copy of that one, too! lol And I want for Christmas, All About Eve! I love Bette Davis in that movie,"Fasten your seatbelts,it's gonna be a bumpy ride," or whatever exactly she said! lol

Possibly the worst list ever in their history. Whats the fascination with Adele? Also im sure Robert Plant feels good that he got more nominations this year for his album with Alison Krauss, then his whole career with Led Zeppelin. The only thing that would be funny would be RadioHead winning album of the year, after all their anti-label and giving the album away mostly free first, here they are. Im thinking they might win it, because they have lost twice before in that category and it might be a payback for those losses. But all in all so much stuff overlooked, so much stuff over compensated, horrible year.

I love Adele (especally compared to the heavily overrated Whinehouse and horrid Duffy). The Grammys are historically insane but that Plant Krauss album was a bit hit commercially and critically. Almost bought it. Hey, what can you do when it has been such a lousy year in music? Overall, some shocking nods but I think Adele and that album rock.

Donna Summer made an album with different musical styles and said tongue in cheek that she wanted to be nominated for grammys in all various catogeries....she didn't even get a nod for best dance recording...fucked up! It wasn't that bad of an album but it just didn't do it commercially in order to get the notice of the people making the final decisions.

"Chasing Pavements" mushy Adele is like the underdog out of these three and I think she's the best one. I can't praise Amy Winehouse because she's a crack head who seems to celebrate her crackhead ways because she seems to be against being clean and sober. I don't care how great people insist she is because all I can see is a hardcore druggie with way too much money to feed her addiction. The only one who can save her in the end is herself...not looking soo good at this point in time.

CynicKill

My heart warmed over when M.I.A. got nominated for Record of the Year! I did not expect that and I hear she's a favorite to win!

But the L'il Wayne nomination for album of the year? I guess in this download culture they couldn't overlook an album that sells over a million copies in one week.
