That was a BAD scene, Jack Drugs and physical abuse,,,,,I'm glad she turned her life around after that. Not alot of people come from that situation in one piece.

Wow, never seen this before. The song is actually pretty cool. I'm guessing the second song is about Josephine Baker? Claire Huxtable getting down... Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Oh yeah and it's nice to see something different up here. The Org has been getting rather redundant. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

It was intentional The whole album was a disco-tribute to La Baker.

I'd always heard about his nutty ass. Regardless, them Allen girls are special. And they mama is too tuff! She decided one day to move to Mexico so the girls could have a new experience and learn Spanish. Hence why they're both fluent. They're from Texas too! Patsy Swayze, Patrick's mom, was their first dance teacher.

I remember seeing her and Debbie at the premiere for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof I think and Debbie looked rough but Phylicia looked good. As an actress I never thought Phylicia had much range but overall I always thought she was a talent to admire. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

It's a shame that a cast with her, James Earl Jones, Anika Noni Rose, and Giancarlo Esposity that not a one got a Tony nomination.

As for Phylicia, I never understood what happened between her and Ahmad. I was sad to hear they were divorcing and under the charges of abandonment? I thought he was a better man than that. Sidenote: Debbie's son is quite handsome. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Sidenote: Debbie's son is quite handsome. He was fucking around with his costar on the NBA show. Then he hooked up with some socialite to whom he's now married to. "Rashād wed his fourth wife Sale Johnson in 2007, the ex-wife of Johnson & Johnson billionaire Woody Johnson. He has gained a stepdaughter from this marriage." From Wikipedia Guess he came up.

I just saw her on 'Psych' on Friday - she's not aging that well.
But I respect the lady. | |

Patsy Swayze, Patrick's mom, was their first dance teacher. Oh yes, Vivian Allen is/was nobody's joke(I don't know if she's alive or not). She was a REAL respected author of her time and the black community then looked up to her among other "Negro Society Ladies" I found these Jet articles about her in flickr You can tell her mother RIGHT OFF just from the resemblence. Now I know where she drew her Claire Huxtable character from I've always thought there was something regal about Ms.Rashad And SCNDLS, that marriage WAS scandalous to the 8th power I read some stuff about the Village People guy pimping her(or trying to pimip her, I hope) to support their habit. Then again, EVERYBODY and their big momma's dog was in a hot-ghetto-in-the-summertime-draggin'-mess back in the 70s

But yeah, Mama Allen was BAAAAAD! I think she was even nominated for a Pulitzer and I believe she's still alive.

She is my idol. She is the epitome of strong femininity to me.
And regal. Yes. I've described her that way too. I've always been mad at Ahmad for leaving that marriage. What could compare to her? But ya never know behind doors. So much to google now ... village people pimping... ahmad's affair... vivian... will I do any work?

Whoa I missed this info,,,,,waaaay to go, Ms.Allen [Edited 12/1/08 12:03pm] Yeah, she was. Not bad for a Southern black woman in the 50s. "Vivian was a Pulitzer-prize nominated artist, poet, playwright, and publisher." Debbie named her daughter Vivian

These are the Allen women
The girl with the dreadlocks is Debbie's daughter, Vivian, I believe.

They're sisters? Yes. Thanks. I was just used to knowing Phylicia as Rashad not Allen, but this thread, and your comment only just now made me realize it! Graycap23 said: I have always dug her and Debbie.
