Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden... Your Thoughts. I was over a friends house a few weeks ago, and they were playing 'Guitar Hero', and one of the songs on there was 'Black Hole Sun' which I had only heard in passing before. But after that game, I went home and downloaded it and I'm really digging that song. What do you guys think about it, and is Soundgarden worth exploring??? Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

That's one of my favorite 90s throwback songs. That, and "Spoonman" from the same album.

I've always loved it, but I've never really been a Soundgarden fan at all. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I think the song is quite annoying. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Same here, though I do like "Burden In My Hand" & "Blow Up the Outside World" by them also... . [Edited 12/1/08 10:34am]

the chorus says it all, once you read the verse lyrics.

It's a pretty good tune off of a pretty good album.
I prefer Down On The Upside, though.

Yeah I don't think I got into any other albums, but this was a huge song in the 90s.

LOL last time I heard it was on RockBand.
Soundgarden is really good, but they don't really go that deep. Very competent, good songs, good musicians, interesting arrangements, but the songs don't add up to very much more than cool stylish rock. My Legacy

There's something very "Psychedelic 101" about this song (and something Zeppelin 101 about most of the rest of their stuff)

The ONLY song I like by them proper. But I like their collaboration with Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog's "I'm Going Hungry".

One of the coolest videos from the 90s. I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

This an amazing song and the reason lead singer Chris Cornell is still in my top 10 vocalists. The raw emotion of this song and the vocals make for a true 90's grunge classic. The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

The album is "Super Unknown" and if you don't own it, go buy it. It was Soundgarden at the top of their game commercially. I wore out my first copy.
Chris Cornell after this turned into a hot mess (except his 1st dark solo album) but Soundgarden as a band was in another league than the other "grunge" bands. "Bad Motor Finger" should be next on your list if you can handle the rock. "Rusty Cage" =

Chris Cornell & Layne Staley are in my top ten rock vocalists.

Let's all have a Martini and enjoy Steve and Eydie's version.

Love the song...it's the only song I like from them though...yep, my ipod is complete with Soundgarden's ONE song. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Great song. Psychedelia in the 90's. Reminds me of the Beatles with a Jimi solo thrown in.
