BRITNEY gets a BAMBI!

Singer Britney Spears has landed a top German media award, which recognizes her comeback after a series of highly-publicized personal problems.

Twenty-six-year-old Spears will collect the Bambi statuette for Best International Pop Star, and perform a song from her new album "Circus," at a gala ceremony hosted by the Hubert Burda Media group on Thursday, Nov. 27.
The Bambis are one of Germany's top media honors, having been awarded since 1948. A film award at the outset, today the awards go to a wide range of people in the entertainment industry as well as in politics, economics and sports.
It was both Spears' recent climb back up the pop chart ladder and her scramble out of the hole of personal crisis that impressed the awards jury.
"The pop princess is back on her throne, better than ever before," the prize jury said when announcing its decision.
They added that "the one-time teen idol has become a mature young woman who overcame the greatest crisis of her life with flying colors. Britney Spears achieved her triumph thanks to her iron discipline, her unique musical talent and her millions of fans, who remained loyal to the star even in her darkest hours."

At the award ceremony Britney Spears is to make her first solo live appearance since her memorably disastrous "Gimme More" comeback attempt at the MTV Video Music Awards last year.
Her performance there was panned by critics who slammed her singing, dancing, costume choice and weight.
The catastrophic comeback marked a year in which Spears shaved her head as photographers looked on, and was cited for "habitual'' use of controlled substances and alcohol by the judge in the custody case of her two children.
Her former husband, Kevin Federline, was granted sole custody of their children last October due to her mental state and drug abuse.
But Spears, the eighth best-selling female recording artist in the US, has sought redemption.
Since February, when Spears' father Jamie took over her business and personal affairs, the singer has reunited with the manager who made her a star, won three MTV Video Music Awards, and relaunched her Web site.
She has cleaned up her appearance, her health seems to have improved, and she has recorded a new album, which is to be released on Dec. 2, her 27th birthday.
Patricia Rieke, editor-in-chief of Burda celebrity magazine "Bunte," called Spears a role model for young women around the world for bouncing back from a string of public humiliations.

Spears was to collect her prize in the southern German town of Offenburg one day before appearing on the much-watched Star Academy reality television show in France.
She has also announced she will tour with the new album next year -- her first major concert tour since 2004. To round off the transformation, Spears' face is to grace the cover of Friday's edition of "Rolling Stone" magazine.
Other winners at the 60th annual Bambis include Hollywood actress Meg Ryan, British racing champion Lewis Hamilton, fashion designers Karl Lagerfeld and Tommy Hilfiger, and US actor Keanu Reeves.

How scary that all the crap that Britney has going on and still has going on, she has 5 really strong albums in a row and is doing shit light years ahead of the freaking icons, who we give passes too and are just phoning the shit in at this point for a check.

She is finding her footing again, she has been off the stage for quite awhile, regardless of releasing albums she hasnt toured and done shows since 2003-04. And considering Leona Lewis was on this show, nothing is more boring than her, her stage personality makes Mariah seem like Tina Turner.

i'm hoping for GMA she does a couple extra numbers cause it appears this is the routine for Womanizer on the promotour

Meds can't cure everything.

With Britney, since the beginning of her downward spiral, she's had that look of "Won't someone PLEASE help me?!?!?!" on her face? Now the look remains but she's supposedly back on track. I don't buy it. That's one unhappy woman.

Honestly because her situation hasnt been a made up one. regardless of the fact that she caused alot of issues, she also had alot of scumbags in her life, one being her ex manager, and another being her screwball mother. Other breakdowns or what have you like Mariah's, were 95% made up bullshit, that was her absolute best acting job pretending that she was "over the edge". Britney probably shouldnt even be up there, she has to know that EVERY move is looked at, every piece of her wardrobe, every step and of course her looks and weight will always come up because of the jaded media that causes most of the female esteem issues in the world.

Im guessing Womanizer,Circus which is the next single and probably im thinking the new re-work tour version of Baby One More time, just to embrace the past.

well look what the overbearing stage parent and fame did to Michael Jackson, i think Britney is in the same situation. A child forced to live out the dream of it's parent and trapped by her own fame and the pressure to still provide for said parent.

i think alot of people dont like to admit or mention Britney in the "michael" speech, but like you said IT IS THAT. Im not saying Britney didnt cause alot of things , but shit, so did Michael, and Michael at 50 still is causing them, i mean he is a "shell" of a person at this point because of the life hes lead. So i think Britney has to get some slack, because she is existing in a media world that Michael didnt even have to deal with, and people can debate that, but the media that is out now, is 100% worse and more "up your ass" than back in the 80's.

That's such a cute award. mushy

I agree with you. After reading her recent Rolling Stone magazine interview, it sounds like she's far from being happy and at points she sounds kinda bitter about the way things turned out with K-Fed, but that whole thing was mostly her fault because she pursued a guy who left his pregnant girlfriend (really, what was she expecting?); and she wanted to marry him initially, so karma really can be a bitch sometimes. A hard lesson in why living spontaneously doesn't always work out in one's favor in the end. Her smiles look really forced now and it's sad seeing anyone have to fake happiness when many signs prove otherwise. Seriously, how truly happy is a grown woman who has no control over her personal or professional matters and only gets to see her children a few days out of the week? If she's geniunely happy, than they must have her on some really hardcore, mood-controlling drugs. Any decision she makes has to be approved by her father and a lawyer. She's like a 26 year old child at this point and her daddy is pulling the strings now, so she does what she's allowed to do. She's far from what I would call an independent woman that young women should model themselves after, but that's just my opinion. It's kinda sad, but good because she wasn't really making good decisions on her own even before she was officially diagnosed with a mental disorder (that quickie Vegas wedding is one prime example). Someone had to save her from herself and that's always a sad thing no matter who the person is.

She may be another tragic child star, but she's far from the most tragic I've seen. She and MJ faired much better than Gary Coleman, because they may be unhappy, but at least they are both still multi-millionaires. Gary Coleman's adoptive parents and legal team stole every dime from that poor man. He was making over $10 million dollars per season according to reports and now he's got none of the money he worked so hard for in his younger years. Hell, even Macaulay Culkin and Drew Barrymore had worse child star stories than Britney, so I'm not going to feel sorry for her because she was a child star when there are other child stars who had it 10 times worse than she did and they managed to handle their situations a whole lot better than her. I just hope she finds real happiness for herself and her children, even if that means giving up her career and doing something out of the public eye. Fame doesn't always bring happiness, and money can't buy you real love.

I don't think people should measure their sympathy based on who has it worst, in any case, not just child stars.

"Ok, so you fell 20 stories, but THIS guy fell 29 stories, I have no sympathy for you!"

Basically, the lesson is DON'T PUT YOUR CHILD IN SHOW BIZ! lol How many child stars have to crash and burn before these moronic stage parents realise it might not be a good decision?

and at points she sounds kinda bitter about the way things turned out with K-Fed, but that whole thing was mostly her fault because she pursued a guy who left his pregnant girlfriend (really, what was she expecting?); and she wanted to marry him initially, so karma really can be a bitch sometimes.

In her upcoming doco, she says she married for the idea of marriage, not because she truly loved him. I wonder how Kevin felt hearing that.

gee michael had to face that stuff in 2005 as well .
everything came up from his porn stash to some guy named katz who gave his take in his mental health to the PJ court days to what ever. fotos of his penis being leaked i mean ... how much humiliation can one person take. todays media sucks. i mean people's cooch on photos , thong shots , nipple shots , sex tapes etc etc . your not safe where ever when ever

Yeah, looking at those pictures, Madonna was the first thing that came to my mind.

BTW, is it me, or does it look like she miming something else.

And that smile at the end of the performance. Her lips are smiling, but her eyes are crying.
