Help! Were do you get the album covers for the albums u have on your iPod?

It has been an herculean task to get the covers from the music I'm uploading to my 80gb iPod. I filled half of it...and it was taken almost one week

The main problem is that cover service of iTunes sucks. They only have 40% of the material I have in their database!

For example...to put almost 20gb of madonna singles and promo with covers...pure insanity!!!!

Does anyone have a great source for covers or a software I can use. I usually complement the itunes cover search with discogs.com and wikipedia

usually if iTunes doesn't come up with the artwork automatically, i just google the album art, save it to my desktop, and add it myself.

wikipedia is a good source. but with some non-iTunes artwork, it will only show up as a black square.

The only album I ever bought on iTunes was tATu's new russian album...and because it was sold in in 256 without DRM.

The rest I try to buy retail.

And then there are the p2p....the drug off the music lover.

It's so weird to listen to vinyl rips on the iPod. Since I am a cd era child...the entire analog adventure passed me by

that happens to me rarely, though it has happened. i usually grab album art from rateyourmusic.com, because chances are they'll have artwork for whatever i'm looking for, however obscure. plus, the illustrations are a perfect size for using on iTunes/iPod.

Thanks for the tip on rateyourmusic.com. As I remember they have a very large database.

As for boots I use databank.org. The covers are small but they really work on the iPod

iTunes usually has the highest quality cover art, but you have to make sure your tags match up with the Store's.

My secondary source is Buy.com. The artwork is usually 500x500 and pretty high quality (although it can be hit-or-miss).

Amazon's usual covers aren't that great, but sometimes they have excellent user-scanned artwork.

Wal-Mart also has pretty good large artwork.

oh yeah, if iTunes won't do the artwork. Google Images, Right Click, Copy Image, then go to iTunes songs you want the artwork for, and Paste!

I use a few options:

- If you have an iTunes Store account on your mouse go to the "Advanced" field, or with a right-click, select "Get Album Artwork" (this works in iTunes 7 and higher). I do this with most of my collection since iTunes artwork tends to have higher quality images.

- Sometimes they won't have the proper artwork for your album or single (especially imports and stuff not featured @ their store), so for that, I usually do Google image searches on the album or single I want artwork for, that works a majority of the time as well.
