One of the most bizarre comebacks ever was..... Some of the lyrics are abit hippy dippy, but that chorus is so bad, pre-school/barney like, its almost genius! Oh the irony. All original members returned for the 1989 self titled album it came off, yet some of it is alot more polished and commerical then what Mickey Thomas' Starship were doing at the time. (I presume Grace Slick lefy Starship due to the commericalism of the group). Also, the album has loads of sessions musicians and unfortunately, the booklet does not tell you who did what, so who knows if any of the original members play anything? To top it off, a song written by Toto. Very hip guys:- Some of the album is quite uncommerical and happy to be like that, and I cant imagine Mickey Thomas' Starship allowing Grace Slick to record a song like "panda", so, a rather odd album then. I happen to think the Toto written cut is miles better then the vast majority of their own stuff, and the album is peppered with some great moments, but its an odd, contradictory comeback all the same, but barring the toto cut, the rest are self-written, but even then, some of it is very commerical. Perhaps unsurprisenly, it bombed. | |
