My Perogative: Stolen....ur..... borrowed from the GAP band? I was listening 2 the 12" version of Addicted to Your Love by the GAP Band last night. The song is damn near identical 2 Bobby Brown's My Perogative. I have not had a chance 2 look into it, but does anyone know which one of these songs was released 1st? I'm thinking that Addicted came out before 1987 but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. [Edited 12/1/08 13:14pm]

Probably not stolen, but just a re-hashing, considering the contributors were all associated together from an era of time in r&b.

The whole Perogative chorus sounds TOO Charlie Wilson-ish now that you've mentioned it.

Nah, that came out in '90. (For some reason the whole video has problems loading up all the way) but Teddy WAS inspired by the Gap Band tho. "My Prerogative" had the same kind of rhythmic keyboard/synthesizer riffs that were omnipresent in 1980s Gap Band tunes.

My perogative did come out first but guy and teddy has always let it
be known that they were huge gap band fans. When the gap released round trip, charlie let it be known on video soul that the gap was still relevant because guy and bobby brown's sound were inspired by the gap band. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint
