The Rose I was watching this movie last night. Great movie about the life of a rock star and the music was pretty good too. Anybody like this one? Andy is a four letter word.

I haven't seen it in years. From what I remember, it was an excellent movie. If I see it on DVD, I think I'll pick it up. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I have Time-Warner and they have a few free movies. Of course, I'll watch it after I watch the Housewives of Atlanta Reunion on Bravo. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Its too painful to watch
And its the GREATEST per4mance from Bette Midler. BTW I just discovered recently that Sylvester made a cameo as one of the drag queens in the movie all these years of watching this movie and I missed this.

Love it. I always feel like I should turn in my card for not liking most gay divas (Streisand = ), but Bette is the exception. She rules. [Edited 11/25/08 11:18am]

[Edited 11/25/08 11:18am] *gasps* OMG, you serious? I used to feel this way about her big-nosed ass too,,,,but I came to appreciate her movies later(Esp her Funny Girl/Lady epic,,,,I hate Fanny Price, but I love the movie). She also made a film called Nuts, I think it showed her range as an actress. Great movie!

But, then, he has to sit through Dr. Who I do sorta like, or at least get why people like, Funny Girl. She seemed a lot more genuine then. It's the self-satisfied thing she developed later (and mastered in Prince of Tides) that drives me bonkers. That and her oversinging. [Edited 11/25/08 11:32am]

[Edited 11/25/08 11:43am] She has an earthy quality,,,,,but I'm sorry to say that none of her material intrested me yet. I'm hearing alot of good things about this album... And the fact that she had an impressive ensemble speak ALOT of her talent. Among them were... Big Luther & Ms.Jenifer Lewis

But she puts on an amazing live show, trash-talks "all that shit she had to do for Disney" and then still sings the crap out of Wind Beneath My Wings. She's pee-your-pants funny. OK, so it was Sylvester I should have been watching for. I remember reading that someone famous dressed in drag in the movie and I just assumed it was Divine. There was a drag queen in the movie that played the MC which had a similar sounding voice as Divine but was way too thin. By that time, I was totally confused. Speaking of Sylvester though, that would have to be the black drag queen dressed in red that was on stage with The Rose character and a Rose drag impersonator. I'll have to watch it again. Andy is a four letter word.

[Edited 11/25/08 11:18am] I'm more into male funk bands and like very few of the gay divas other than the disco and house divas. I've never been into Bette either but I enjoyed the hell out of her musical performanaces in this movie. Andy is a four letter word.

Bette HATES the Rose, that's why she places it so early in her shows so it's out of the way. the other song she hates is The Wind Beneath My Wings, and claism she was forced to record per the producers of Beaches. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna
