At Last is an amazing song...Etta James' version is absolutely the best.
Who's version would you say is next-best; Celine Dion or Christina Aguilera's? By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

"Sugar on the Floor." Listen to some more REAL Etta James! "At Last" probably is her best known, but she's got some other stuff out there that'll make you cry! If I had to choose between Celine Dion and Christina Aguilera, I'd take Christina's version. She listened VERY carefully to Etta. Can't you imagine Rosie Gaines with that one? Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

I'm glad to hear some other folks like Etta...I rock her CDs quite often...in addition to the slow jams, I love 'In the Basement' and her other, more bluesly-sounding songs. *this is for whoever taught you how to kiss in designer jeans*

My grandmother was and still is a big fan of this lady and had most of her albums. All of this lady's music moved me and still does. She is a powerhouse! Original, earthshaking, was and still is one of the finest women I've ever seen with blonde hair! Tell Mama, Trust in Me, At Last!, All I Could Do Was Cry, and she also redid some mean remakes other great music. Another icon! (It's rumoured and I think true that Minnesota Fats, the famouse pool player, is her father! She was born in Los Angeles) Lennytunia

...She addressed that rumor in an interview with 'Vibe' magazine. She does think he's her father. *this is for whoever taught you how to kiss in designer jeans*

While we're on the "old-school" divas track, I gotta give props to Ella Fitzgerald. She's not as gritty and bluesy as Etta, but wonderful nonetheless. Beautiful, crystal-clear voice. *this is for whoever taught you how to kiss in designer jeans*
