I just Discovered Billy Ocean's Nights (Feel Like Getting Down) album

I just discovered this album this weekend. I knew about it, but had never heard it all of the way through. It is EXCELLENT. Every track is killer. I really like "Are You Ready". It is the first cousin of "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough". You guys should check it out if you find it somewhere.

1. Are You Ready
2. Don't Say Stop
3. Whatever Turns You On
4. Another Day Won't Matter
5. Nights (Feel Like Getting Down)
6. Who's Gonna Rock You
7. Stay the Night
8. Everlasting Love
9. Taking Chances

I'm curious about this album.I love the title track,a big hit in the summer of '81 headbang I wanna hear the other tracks.I
m betting that these songs are funkier and more R&B than the MOR pop stuff that he started doing a few years later.

They are. This album is similar to Off The Wall (style wise) and has some great dance stuff.

Are You Ready:

Stay The Night

Everlasting Love

Billy's a bd mother ... this album is great. More R&B than his first 2 Jive albums.

much more. His Jive stuff was pretty pop (overall). When I heard "When the Going Gets Tough", I wanted to beat his ass.

I felt that way when I heard "Get Outta My Dreams,Get Into My Car" barf One of the worst 80s pop songs.

I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the song! I always thought Billy was some fake Caribbean version of Lionel Richie due to his pop hits so imagine my shock when I heard "Nights"! I was like, "that IS Billy Ocean, but then again, THAT'S BILLY OCEAN!?!" It kinda shocked me in a good way. Safe to say that's my favorite song from him. wink

It's amazing how long Billy Ocean has been around. Many people think his career started with "Carribean Queen (No More Love On The Run)" in 1984,but it didn't.In fact, his career didn't even start with "Nights (Feel Like Gettin Down" in 1981.He actually had a Top 40 pop hit in 1976 called "Love Really Hurts Without You".
