Michael Jackson - The Ultimate Collection
Michael Jackson - Invincible Michael Jackson - Thriller 25 Matchbox Twenty - More Than You Think You Are Matchbox Twenty - Exile On Mainstream Rob Thomas - Something To Be Sean Altman - SeanDEMOnium Sister Machine Gun - 6.0 Sister Machine Gun - 6.5 The Desert Companion Seal - IV Billy Joel - My Lives Michael Damian - Getting So Much Better EP Huey Lewis & The News - Plan B Lenny Kravitz - Lenny Prince - 3121 I'm also really excited about Seal's new album of covers, but I haven't gotten around to listening to the whole thing. [Edited 11/24/08 6:49am] I dont disagree but isnt it near sacrilege not to chose Heartbreaker? Almost every critic mentions Heartbreaker and raves about it. Sure, it's a great and accomplished album but I must admit that it hardly gets any play in my house. I like Cold Roses better because it has a more 'band'-sound to it.....there are some beautiful song on it!

HamsterHuey said: Silent Shout just paved the way for my other favourite electro outing of that year; Ellen Allien & Apparat’s Orchestra Of Bubbles. Two German DJ’s coming up with techno beats that sometimes sound like Andrea Parker, until the beat just rips it to shreds. To listen to this on your iPod is to lose yourself; it transports you to other worlds sonically that most people would need pills and other substances to reach. At least, that’s what it does to me. 2006 was such a great, great year for music. I want to cry when I think about how mindblowing it was for me personally. The electronic music that year, wow. I bought Silent Shout on import back in February of '06 and I remember the first time I got it I did exactly as you described. I just turned off all the lights in my place and got lost in it. It sounds so good on state-of-the-art soundsystems (as with a lot of Swedish+Scandinavian music). It's an aural world. "Marble House" still sounds as awesome today as it did when I first heard it. The synths on that track give me chills. I'd actually place that sole song on a list of the best original songs of the '00s. In 2006, I probably bought about 15 to 20 albums just on import. Another great one was Lo-Fi-Fnk's "Boylife" that I bought digitally through a European music distributor. And, oh god, HOW MUCH did The Presets "Beams" kick my ass that year. I was lost in that album for about 1.2 years. I still remember the very first day I bought it [April 18, 2006 -- bought Kudu's Death of the Party later that night] and how I felt while absorbing it and flipping through the album art parked on the side of the road. That very fresh feeling when you hear something really new and bugged, that's what that album was for me. Things haven't been the same since. I remember driving around L.A. on a smoggy day blasting "Girl (You Chew My Mind Up)" in a damn Nissan. Fucking losing my mind. I loved it. [Edited 11/24/08 17:08pm]

or group since some of these people had more than one album that would be in my top 15. but for reasons of variety, i've picked only one per group/artist. and i haven't included any albums released this year. Sexton won't like that! But that's probably what I'd do too. I still don't understand why people censor themselves like that. So what if your list is all Michael Jackson albums and you come off looking like a big fammy fam? At least you're being true to yourself. These are the albums I played and fammed out over the most from 2000-2007: 1. We Are The Pipettes - The Pipettes (2007) 2. Supernature - Goldfrapp (2006) 3. Get Away From Me - Nellie McKay (2004) 4. Back To Black - Amy Winehouse (2007) 5. So Jealous - Tegan and Sara (2004) 6. Someone To Drive You Home - The Long Blondes (2006) 7. Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Once More With Feeling - original soundtrack (2002) 8. Feather And Fate - Mors Syphilitica (2001) 9. Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking - The Like (2005) 10. 5:55 - Charlotte Gainsbourg (2006) 11. On The Jungle Floor - Van Hunt (2006) 12. Naty Botero - Naty Botero (2006) 13. Finisterre - Saint Etienne (2002) 14. Let's Get Out Of This Country - Camera Obscura (2006) 15. Wanderland - Kelis (2001) I like pics edit [Edited 11/26/08 11:05am]

Awesome! And for me, I'm just not very good at making lists. And I'm even worse at comparing one artist's work with another's. So by just choosing one album/artist, it simplifies things in my head.

I can't believe that didn't make my top 15 frequency), but it's as close as I'll get under the circumstances: Pernice Brothers - The World Won't End Scott Walker - The Drift Mountain Goats - Tallahassee Robert Wyatt - Cuckooland Eric Matthews - Foundation Sounds Smog - Dongs of Sevotion Mountain Goats - We Shall All Be Healed Mojave 3 - Puzzles Like You Chappaquiddick Skyline - Chappaquiddick Skyline Von Sudenfed - Tromatic Reflexxions Pernice Brothers - Discover a Lovelier You The Mountain Goats - The Sunset Tree The Delgados - Hate Mekons - Journey to the End of the Night Joe Pernice - Big Tobacco

Are you sure Ian is your brother? Yes. But he's the mathematician in the family and I'm the artist. He's tried to get me to think about music in some sort of order, and I'm actually much less resistent to it than I used to be. It's still not a natural way for me to think though.
