"The Loving Kind" by Girls Aloud set to be their 20th single 1/12/09 The Loving Kind which many on the org know as the song that features writing and production from the Pet Shop boys. The song will be the second single from the #1 album "out of control" and a follow up to the #1 single "the promise". The video will be filmed in december and the single will most likely become their 20th straight top 10 single in the UK. In other GA news, there 5 album contract (though there were 6) is up and what the rumour was, was that the Girls would call it a day after these 5. Well not going to happen, they are in line to very big offers that will make them the top earners in the uk, and get them into the next decade, something very uncommon for girl groups, to make it this long and to have their popularity grow not decline. Their upcoming tour already has sold quicker than any other, and they are set to probably sign another 5 year 5 album deal. I heard part of it (I guess when the video is on Youtube I can hear the whole thing) and it didn't do much for me. I guess I was expecting a PSB tune. It's good for PSB, so I'm happy about that. An album a year...that's a crazy pace lately! Kind of interesting when you think about it...the two biggest selling albums in 2005 were from 50 Cent and Mariah Carey (forgot who ended up where after the dust and the reissues settled) but it is sort of interesting that their follows up did rather poorly in comparison. While I believe fans in comparison thought that the follow ups were of less quality, it was also record company politics and DELAY after DELAY that did not help either. Seemed like they pushed that Mariah album back about a year! Frankly, it would make a hellvu a lot more sense in this environment for artists to release an album a year now. For one thing, it makes sense to strike while the iron is hot...after all, Americans are more fickle than ever. Rhianna's career certainly didn't get hurt by doing the one album a year deal (well, nearly..."Good Girl Gone Bad" almost become another album with it's slew of new songs which became hit singles and overall pushed the album sales up). Why put SOO much pressure (and money) on one album to perform, too. Why not just keep trying and spend less money on each album but produce more. Hey, I'm not an expert, but doesn't look like they are, either! [Edited 11/22/08 11:37am] | |

If Girls Aloud were in america i dont think they would be allowed that kind of output nor do i feel that the public could handle it. For them i feel that early on since they were from a reality show there was the exact opposite of support that you get here in america for its "american idol" winners. Here in the USA you are put everywhere, but as Girls Aloud said, they werent even invited on UK shows to promote. But they held on, they built a fan base that has always bought their singles and albums, i mean 19 straight top10 singles out of 19 released is not a bad run, and it doesnt seem to be slowing down, its actually getting stronger. I do feel now that even they are shocked by the run, and have said it, but have worked together so long now, that they have a chance to become one of UK's biggest acts ever, not just for a girl group, but overall.
