I meant to reply to this yesterday
j'adore these kinds of threads!!! biggrin

I'm gonna do mostly modern stuff
since I was born in '81
and most of the stuff I listen to
came out around then or before
and I have no idea what was released
as singles, what was released to radio
and dot dot dot

"Flowers For Zoë"//Lenny Kravitz
(if I was getting high back when
I discovered Mama Said
I woulda been gettin high to this)

"Mutron Angel"//Whild Peach
(this song makes me cry when I heard it now
knowing that Peach passed... R.I.P.
this is actually OutKast's song but I credit
Whild Peach since they don't have many songs circulating
and it's majority Peach anyway)

"Recognize"//Warren G
(one of the slept on gems from the now classic Warren G debut)

"Always Will"//Tweet
(possibly my favorite song of Ms. Charlene's)

"Press Rewind"//Carl Thomas; Total
(love the usage of the Curtis Mayfield sample)

"10 Crack Commandments"//B.I.G.
(no explanation needed)

"If You Were My Bitch"//The Murderers
(I always loved this half-assed song sans the rappers verses
wish they woulda just let the guy sing all the way through
the raps fucked it up for me neutral )

"Can't No Man"//Tamia
(reminds me of college, coming out, my first "grownup" heartbreak)

"Gz Up Hoez Down"//Snoop Dogg
(a rarity that is only found on those
first pressings of Doggystyle, to my knowledge)

"Wanna Go Back"//Q-tip; Marsha Ambrosius; Solange
(more of an "unreleased" song than a "non-single" song
why the FUCK did she NOT put this on her album? mad )

"Bang"//Shyne
(I always love to play this one in the car
it really BANGS!! cool )

"Goin' Down"//Scarface
(my favorite song from Scarface's classic
album The Diary)

"Black Widow Pt. 2"//Ol' Dirty Bastard
(this is from RZA's 2nd album Digital Bullet
and one of Dirt McGirt's FINEST moments)

"X-Tasy"//Tweet; Missy Elliott
(now this song was released AFTER
I started getting high.. need I say more? lol )

"It's Real"//Missy Elliott
(have no idea who the bg chick is.. but I love how in the
album booklet she mis-credits the sample as
"Have A Good Time" by Rufus & Chaka Khan
when it's actually the opening drums from
"Love Has Fallen On Me" from Chaka's debut album
LOOOOOVE the trickery wink )

I was going through my ZUNE
starting @ the bottom of the list

I could be here all day lol
I'll stop here

i do own that single but wasn't it a scrapped project? i still don't know what happened with it. and what baffles me more is that it had an official remix too..

I do think it was scrapped. Not quite sure why.

Maybe it was due to the divorce of Tommy and Mariah. That was about the same time.

Gz up Hoez Down.
I originally bought the CD in 93, had it stolen and bought it again like a year and a half later. I had a feeling that something was missing, remembered the song and thought, maybe it was on the "Above The Rim" soundtrack or something. It wasn't so I knew I was robbed with my second copy of Doggy Style. Thanks for reassuring me that the weed didn't have me thinking something was missing when it wasn't. lol

and now for my MiMi contributions:

"When I Feel It" (unreleased from TEOM)

"Sprung" (unreleased from TEOM)

"Stay The Night" (from TEOM)

such a shame neither of the
Taj Mahog tracks made the
final tracklisting on TEOM
they're collaborations are
like cigars & weed love

if I'm not mistaken, "Sprung"
is available on the Japanese version
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

One of my friends actually gave me a dub of the album way back, and they had a copy really early on that still had "Gz Up, Hoez Down".

It was a rude surprise to find out when I decided to get the CD for my collection, mind you this was even before it was remastered, that the song was missing!

I knew the sequence was missing something.

I have an original pressing on CD again though. cool
