Donny Hathaway, Roberta Flack - "You Are My Heaven" (1980) ...
A classic, and one of Donny's Last....Donny and Roberta doing the tune written by Stevie Wonder.... ... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

This song is superb! I also love their other big hit "Back Together Again" from that same album.

According to Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder is also singing background vocals on this classic.
According to Mtume, "Back Together Again" was Donny Hathaway's last vocal performance. Where is the Definitive collection for this genius who was recently named to Rolling Stone's greatest singers list! (49)

I forget the name of the girl who was singing near the end but she sounded wonderful, I know someone posted her name, lol.
Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn (I believe) sung background on "Back Together Again".

According to Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder flew her out to LA and played her 5 songs that he had written for this album.

He did produce the instrumental (and completely ripped off Chic's Good Times) But I love the chorus... Alex, I'm surprised It's A Shame is on your Top 5. Again this is a song I fear many don't know. But itg's soooo great and Cheesy Cameron's vocals are first class. In fact it's one of my favorite male vocal performances ever!!! He wrote so many great records. Tell Me Something Good is great too. And I like the two christmas songs he wrote for Smokey...

For my list, I would add Minnie Riperton's "Perfect Angel", Rotary Connection's "This Town", Syreeta and GC Cameron's "I Wanna Be by Your Side", Jeff Beck and Syreeta's "Cause We've Ended As Lovers", and Jermaine Jackson's "You're Supposed To Keep Your Love For Me".... ... I have all Stevie songs released tons of rarities. Aside from the ones named I also love "Try Jah Love" and a song he did with Diane Schuur called "Finally" my fave Syreeta song "Spinnnin and Spinnin" and "Black Maybe" some "Take a lil trip" by Minnie. Also "I can see the sun in late december" done by roberta flack. [Edited 11/19/08 2:42am]

Ya know what though? I always thought it woulda been a KICK ASS version had it been sung by a falsetto. But MJ wasn't on my mind @ the time, it was Emanuel "EJ" Johnson from Enchantment. OMG he would've murked this to death the song is right up his alley, vocally. Its a shame they didn't work toghether.
