I begin to cherish McCartney's late work

I think with Off The Ground (1993) he stopped making records for the masses. You can see how he struggled in the 1980s when he was too young to step back but too old to be hip. Also he wanted to have a modern sound but failed imo. He just struggled.
It's strange saying Off The Groudn would be his late work (imagine: Madonna did Hard Candy at 50! What a difference) but I think after the huge succes of the tour from 1989 he began making the music he likes.

I totally like this album. Peace In The Neighbourhood, Hope Of deliverance (which was his only solo#1 in Germany) and most of the others.
Does anyone else like it?

Then there was Flaming Pie which is the first one that's a bit more serious. He knew Linda would die while the recordings... I think it has 5 songs that can compete with his Beatles stuff. Unfortunately there are some fillers too but those 5 songs...

Driving Rain was more joyous but has some excellent songs as well. Especially the first half is great.

Chaos In The Backyard... is considered a modern Macca classic. I only like the first half and the b-sides. I never got into it but it's a great album anyway.

And Memory Almost Full... I have to admit... is the only Macca album since Tug Of War where I can listen to EVERY single song. I think this album is underrated and fantastic!! My Ever Present past is cool!

And now this Fireman album... which has some weak songs but it's cool though.

What I like is that he released albums now more often since 1989 his rhythm was 4 years...

Most songs of MAF where written in 2003, before Chaos... I wonder when teh next album will come out. Hopefully it's as good as the other albums since 1993.

Chaos in the Backyard is my favorite latter day McCartney album. It's nice and simple and elegant, very pleasant to listen to. It kinda reminds me a bit of the albums Johnny Cash did with Rick Rubin in the last years of his life. Just very stripped-down and true sounding.

I couldn't get with Memory Almost Full, but I haven't given it that much of a chance.

You should. I clearly remember the night My Ever Present Past was world premiered. Shortly after that the clip was on youtube. I thought it was cheesy as hell and thought the production strange but liked it instantly. Hell, it's even fun playing the song!
