AMEN. You're right, it's mainly black people that get caught up in the whole skin complexion thing. We are the worst at it and it starts when we're children. I still can't get over a 5 year old's conversation with another kindergardner, "Is that your mother? She's lighter than you!" All I can say is wow.

yo Cinnamon, that's my
favorite song of hers right now too!!! I played it just last night and I got so full I love that damn song!!! "I wanna be the one who [he] believes in [his] heart is sent from (sent from Heaven)..." because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

just wanna add I've been a fan
of Keyshia's since "I Changed My Mind" came out on 12" (shortly before the album came out) I didn't know who she was thought she was a Kelis knockoff after seeing the video but then I got to know her & her music and now I feel she's a Mary J. Blige knockoff (in some very obvious ways) but she still cool and I support her shit!!! I have a newfound respect/love for her 2nd album didn't like it at all, at first I'm dying to get into the first 2 seasons of her reality show... I never did catch it on TV because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

But you're right, no one was making as big a deal about it and the Jermaine is greasy thread had way more responses than this one. lol

I think Keyshia can pull off a modern soul album with James Poyser. The downside to that is people will compare her moreso to Mary J., lol.
By the way, damn with all the off topic stuff, lol... anyway, I had a problem with her BET performance this year.

I mean, she sounds great on the record and she looks good, she don't need to be doing all of that!

I saw the BET performance online and I agree. Hate to say this too and I love Mary J, but she can overdo it on stage too.

I can't just see any other female R&B singer doing it. But I guess it's alright. But you see Mary is slowly starting to become more refined when she performs nowadays. So I guess she's passing the torch.

Faith Evans has a much prettier voice than both Keyshia and MJB, but gets nowhere near as much attention, besides who's she's dated.
