New York city band with Luther Vandross

Anyone familiar with this album. Luther recorded with this band before his breakthrough

I've seen this, too, but haven't picked it up. I assume it consists of recordings Luther did when he was a session singer. I just learned in the last 10 years of how much work he actually did before he hit it big.

Luther was mostly known as a vocalist in Change, the Italian band that featured a crew of NYC vocalists. That's where the jams R... "Glow of Love", "Lover's Holiday", etc, etc. So his breakthrough was really with Change, especially with "Glow of Love".

I think this is stuff before Change.

We can't forget Luther's work with Chic; his writing and singing on David Bowie's Young American album, his writing "Everybody Rejoice"/"Brand New Day" for The Wiz (Broadway and movie), singing lead with Gwen Guthrie on Quincy Jones' Sounds...And Stuff Like That album.

Luther was busy in the 70's.

And I almost forgot his verion of Georgy Porgy with the group Charme. biggrin
