I love their videos. Especially "Private Affair" And I hear some funk in their songs. What do people think of them?

Private Affair

You really need to watch the "Private Affair" video on a regular TV to appreciate it, because it looks like an old videocassette recording from a late night early 80s video show. But YouTube makes every video look that way so the novelty kinda gets lost.

No one has anything to say about them?

Oh wow! I like these songs! Really nice, melodic sound here. "Rich Girls" sounds funky () and I like the way Private Affair opens and feels like The Robyn Bird Show. Looks like New York Public Access. lol

I turned one person onto them. I feel better now. I think you are right on about the "Private Affair" video spoofing Robyn Bird. I saw both these videos for the first time on Subterranean. MTV is still good one hour a week at least.

I didn't know what to expect, but I like their sound. I'm surprised I haven't heard of this band yet. Believe it or not, I still haven't watched Subterranean even though I have been meaning to for a couple of years now.

MTV keeps changing the air time for the show. It used to be on late Sunday nights, but now it comes on Thursday or Friday. My DVR automatically records it and I always watch it later.

No wonder I haven't caught the show. Wish they aired repeats earlier in the week.

Years ago the show used to be rerun at some weird-ass time during the week, but that got nixed. It's bad enough that MTV is devoting one hour a week to new interesting music. God forbid they should do it twice and deny people another hour of Punk'd or Jackass reruns.

It's worth checking out. Listened to it in full over the weekend while doing other stuff. Still digesting some of it, kinda blends in parts. It sounds like something you'd hear in a lounge or pool hall @ 10 p.m. while out on the town. Their sound initially comes off as subdued, but the more you play, it gathers steam and the grooves get lodged in your brain after a while. It's surprisingly explicit.

"Teen Lovers" is a cool track. It's the song you here @ the beginning of the Private Affair video. I like that the most. Along with "She's Expensive" (check this track out), "Hey Hey Girl," "Murder" and "Rich Girls." I would like to hear these songs live. Something tells me they really kick with these on a stage.

Some of their vibe reminds me of Bodyrockers, especially in "One Week of Danger."

The energy of the album comes off better live, I gather. The studio kinda polishes off the grit.

That sounds like the same problem Lykke Li has. Live she has a lot of spunk. On record she's just nice. Maybe I'll check the Virgins' album out too.
