Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak discussion Thread! The album has leaked! I think it time to discuss the new Kanye West album. A webrip has leaked. Only track 1 and 9 have skipping issues but with this leak one can make a nice quick review.

Overall I'm really enjoying the album. It's very sweet/sour in terms of overall. It's not that big artist statement that Kanye will make it be.
My favorite track of the set is "Welcome to the heartbreak". The worst is by far is Therapy. | |

Therapy i got a promo 2 days ago, and im not a fan of the guy for the reason is all he does is talk shit, so even if he does something good and creative im still thinking what an asshole he is, and he is telling me that he is good, WTF with that? So honestly i cannot fairly judge this record, though i do like a few tracks, i feel he is chasing people like common still and will never catch up, he is better than the norm, but then again hes got Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne on tracks and i cant deal with them either for the most part, one sucks and the other is in-coherent with his rapping he isnt relevant. Paranoid is very EBM is the beginning...
I think this album will be his best seller worldwide. If some songs like Paranoid or Robocop get a remix treatment and some singles in good ol' europe, "Kanye Omari/just wrote to this is/I'm Sorry" (shameless Damita Jo era verse) will go number 1 for sure in the UK [Edited 11/15/08 14:06pm] | |

Kanye calls his shots, this album all along was the album he was going to put out. With his EGO there was NO WAY he was going to put out what someone wanted him to put out, that could be true if this was his first record and he was a nobody with no clout. There is no risk, that is imaginary, risk is walking away from your label and putting out the album on your own and not doing press or videos or even speaking, thats risk and thats what no one would do. I dont hate the record its light years better than alot out there and a breathe of fresh air though the tracks with jeezy and lil wayne are shit and should have never made the record. Well Kanye has also said in an interview (not the one where he said he was AT&T, er, the voice of his generation) that he doesn't know if he'll continue releasing music now that his mama has passed away. She was probably his biggest inspiration. | |

But the proof is when you can accept not selling, that is when artists are born not before, if you can deal with not being the center of attention or the hip thing, then you can be called an artist.
