Kreesha Turner and Gabriella Climi fresh sounds lets hope the US doesnt overhype as they always do

Two cool new artists on the world stage are Kreesha Turner who has a new cd and a great new single "dont call me baby" that is Pure 80's, as is much of her record. BUT of course media fools already are comparing her to Rihanna, which is lame because they are night and day, especially their sounds, one is Rihanna is pure america rythym/pop and Kreesha is a live sound very euro, the only thing they have in common are there Jamaican backgrounds.

As for Gabriella her album will hit the US in March of 09 but its out already. Already the Media and lame comparisons, are calling $her the new "whinehouse"(minus drugs) which is way off the mark, and it makes Amy sound like a legend? really maybe i missed that legend memo. But gabriella has a more pop/euro/ but also very live retro soound, she hails from Aussie, and is now in the UK turning heads. Both of these artists will see US exposure in early 09.

I haven't heard Kreesha Turner's stuff but Gabriella Climi's "Sweet About Me" has been popular on the radio over here for the past two months.... I do see where the Amy Winehouse comparison comes from though... the way she uses her voice and parts of the sound in that song seem to come from similar influences as Amy's (or rather Mark Ronson's) sound on Back to Black... Regardless of that, I like this retro vibe that Gabriella, Amy and Duffy seem to have... I really like Duffy's album... I might be convinced to get Gabriella's album too... I'm not sure if it has been released in Iceland yet though.

I found this nice clip from a UK TV morning show that proves that this Gabriella chick can sing live.... I wish the same were true about Duffy. confused
But anyway, here's "Sweet About Me" from the UK program Sunrise:

yeah i got an import of both of their records, and they are pretty cool artists, different, a more live feel to both of them, then what we have here in america. Gabriella has a little more pop on her record than duffy or amy, but her style and vocals and just the sound of the songs push them to another level. Two breaths of fresh air. thanks for posting the clip
