Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, Wimp music is back

Hey who remembers late 80s pop sensations Tiffany and Debbie Gibson who were big for one album, less big for the second and faded away for their third. And they both stripped for Playboy a few years ago.
I mention them as with the current revival for goody two shoes pop music and clean Kiddie Disney pop like The High School Musicals and the Jonas Brothers. Myabe they are a response to all the obscene negative rap music and doom laden negative death metal and other metalled music. I don't mind it but it is rather fluffy and lightweight. And you Know New Kids on the Block have released a new album and its a tragic flop.
Does nayone like the Jonas Brothers or Tiffany

anyway, I wouldn't have a problem with the Disney crap but it's EVERYWHERE. People are accepting it as serious music and the stars as artists and shit. I don't need to constantly need to read and see the Jonas brothers and Hanna Montana everytime I watch TV or read an entertainment magazine

and Billy Ray Cyrus creeps me out mad

I still groove with Deborah's Foolish Beat ever now and then. But that song isn't lightweight at all. It's very classic R&B infested.

The thing people dont realize mainly because they didnt live through the times when these things were happening, is that parents want to have something to buy for their kids. Why do you think all that early Britney, backstreet, christina, nsync etc sold a gazillion copies? because parents bought it for the kids, why do you think kidz bop has 900 volumes? Why do you think all the NOW cds sold? mainly because parents could by the kids EDITED versions of songs that they liked so much. And of course why do you think Miley and High School Musical and Jonas are moving now? Same reason different years.

The problem with today is that EVERYTHING is catered to the teen crowd, which is stupid because they arent buying the music, Back when you had Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, they were the only 2 teens on the scene, now everyone is that is in the spotlight of the mainstream, and if they arent a teen they are barely 20,21 but their music is for teens for the most part.

As for NKOTB the album isnt a flop, sorry but look at the industry, they have sold 300,000 20 years after they were "cool", not bad for a bunch of 40 year olds that havent worked together in 15+ years. Considering the industry is down 60% in the last 3 years in terms of sales, 300,000 sold is like 3 million back in the day.

"Wimp music" never went away. It always comes back whenever there's a new generation of kids growing up. Sure, Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, and the kids of High School Musical are hot now, but so was Hilary Duff five years ago; the Backstreet Boys, 'Nsync. Britney, and Christina ten years ago; Boyz II Men, Brandy and Monica in the mid-1990's; Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, and Mew Kids on the Block 20 years ago; New Edition and Musical Youth 25 years ago; Leif Garrett, The Jacskons, Shaun Cassidy and the Osmonds 30 years ago, David Cassidy and Booby Sherman 35 years ago, and the Beatles, Herman's Hermits, and Stevie Wonder back in the 1960's. There's always a market for bubblegum pop music, and artists come and go. The difference now is the perceived lack of more mature artists on the Billboard charts plus the decline of the music industry.

At least Debbie and Tiffany and to a lesser extent, the New Kids, had good writers and producers behind them (in the case of Debbie, often only herself).

The stuff being churned out by the Disney label is souless and often lacks a good pop hook.

Sorry about that to please the others I will add Negative doom laden metal music and death metal groups, as that music is pretty pointless and destructive too. I picked on rap as a lot of the lyric glamourise gangs, crime, misogjny and substance abuse, and I am sorry to say promotes crime and does a lot to damage the reputation of people of colour, as positive rap is mostly marginalised compared to the gangsta bling crap that rules the airwaves. Whereas at least kid pop is tame and deals with dancing singing and some positive stuff like working hard and achieveing your dreams, however what I grandstand on is this overuse of being in the 'in' crowd and the disguised messages of Christianity and family values that are outdated

Please all note Ihave got rid off the racist n word. I'm sorry to anyone I offended. Here in NZ that term is descriptive of the African race rather than referring to any racist overtones.

it is different in other countries, i know in brazil where my husband is from his father is black, but he doesn't like to be called "black" in portuguese, because there in brazil it offends. so he "wants" to be called "negro", i didn't understand that at first, but i was explained it.

It's funny how people won't feed their kids shitty food, don't let them watch certain T.V., play video games, ect...but when it comes to exposing them to fake, talentless, bullshit artists with zero substance it is dismissed as harmless fun.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Black is "preto" in portuguese (in brazil). it's very interesting how things differ from culture to culture.
