(Nov. 12) - Christina Aguilera is not fan of dance-pop songstress Lady GaGa or of talk that she takes her style cues from the music scene newbie. In the tail-end of an interview with the LA Times, Aguilera responded to the originality police by not only slamming the "Just Dance" singer, but her ladyhood as well.
"You know, that's funny that you mention that. This person [Lady GaGa] was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I'm not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don't know if it is a man or a woman. I just wasn't sure. I really don't spend any time on the Internet, so I guess I live a little under a rock in that respect."





Christina Aguilera is not only waving off talk that she's been borrowing Lady GaGa's look, she's even expressing doubts that GaGa is a lady at all. "I'm not quite sure who this person is, to be honest," Xtina told the LA Times. "I don't know if it is a man or a woman. I just wasn't sure."


Musically, the pair don't have THAT much in common. GaGa is more akin to Madonna, while Aguilera has always been in the Mariah school of pop-soul.

This was one of those feund that the media and the fans of both trying to start. Thank the lords of kobol that both of them do not go into this "Blur versus Oasis" stuff.

I saw Lady Gaga perform a few times on TV. She is fierce. Much more that Xtina could ever hope to be.

This is typical music business. Its no different than Papa Knowles having Amerie's CD held back even though it was done before B'Day to make Beyoncé sound more original because she was biting Amerie's sound. This sort of thing is done all of the time. The difference is that she's trying to feign ignorance. How can you be the "hip chick" if you aren't hip to what's up? Its really more about labels than the two of them. Lady Gaga's style is her own but whenever you're a budding star, you have to look out for the fading ones. Labels ALWAYS duplicate whats working. They look at their roster and say "who do we have that's something like this artist? Okay, let's transform them.
Same thing happened with Nas and NYOil. Nas's "N*gger" CD was Nas doing his best NYOil "conscious rap with an edge" impression. Labels saw NYOil and said "Who do we have that can do this" and jumped on it.
