Oh and for the record, TotalAlisa, please don't reply to my post with "YES WOMEN ARE SKANKS I TOTALLY AGREE!"

That's not what I'm saying.

You were willing to call me a whore because I called you an idiot so your opinion on this subject is quite clearly biased and prejudiced. Please go back to reading your Bible and quit posting in threads that require replies with a balanced point of view.

I would like to say that....I am tired of the 35 and up female singers using nudity almost to keep selling records. Just like the male rappers who are over 35 who sag to keep selling records. Singer like beyo, can sell sex, but after doing it for so long even she needs to back off of it. people like ledisi, cherokee, lalah, and country western singers and singers who have gotten older knew when to quit. on the other hand it does seem like the lady singers can't do anything right to sell records. someone will always find something wrong with them. Seeing that there are not that many left they need to be supported no matter what. JMO

Anyone who says the industry isnt full of the "whats acceptable for a male and not for a female" artist double standard is SMOKING SOME GOOD SHIT. If anyone doesnt believe that if a male artist does a "sexy" video he is called Hot, and when a female does she is called a "slut and ho", once again youre smoking some good shit and please pass it down.

The latest example of this comes today as "reach out" the new video by Hilary Duff, has been "ordered" to be re-edited to eliminate a scene where she is wearing a blindfold and appearing with a guy with his shirt off, according to the networks, this is simulating sex and bondage. However current videos by Usher which is bordering on Showtimes soft porn, and past videos by Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, which didnt "simulate" they showed bondage in their videos, no holds barred. Hilary let the video be censored mainly because she has already left the label and really doesnt have a care in this case, but its still yet another example of this double standard.

I agree Lastdecember. In the alternative music arena, there's the case of Peaches; and BunnyRabbit & her lover Black Cracker. Both women's music is criticized for being just "potty-mouthed-trash" that does not meet the rap standards of some music listeners. However, I have not read about anyone dismissing Iggy Pop's music which is a source of artistic inspiration for these women.

why do you care so much????? Unless you want more women dressing like skanks. ITS NOT ALRIGHT. two wrongs dont' make a right. Just because men are doing it does not mean women should to.

If a man takes off his shirt WHO CARES, men can do that. Women can't.

Who cares about double standards you cannot change. And hopefully as many women that you have been with in the bed, lets hope you get a women who has been with as many men. and lets see if you don't care about double standards lol lol

Actually women can do that in almost every country except "the backwards" USA. And wow what a dumb ass statement, truth again that religion warps peoples minds, do yourself a favor, buy a ticket to "Religilous" you might learn something, worth learning

Okay i hope you get a women who has as many bed partners as you have had. and lets see if you care about double standards.

I'll care because its a freaking double standard. Alright i work around this crap all the time, i work in films and have to deal with casting people and see the bullshit that goes on 24/7 with double standards. things like "latin actors" always have to be gang members or have lots of kids in films, stupid ass shit like that, because one belief leads to another. OK so do me a favor talk friggin sense, and not dumb ass crap, if you dont agree on the double standard, then dont agree, and the next time you see a girl in a mini skirt and call her a slut ask yourself why you think like that, and how that type of thinking leads to all the other predjudices

i dont' think girls in mini skirts are sluts. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. If i were to think anything i would think that was gross, or that girl is seeking desperate attention from men.

How do we go from double standards to negative stereotypes neutral

Seriously it seems all you do is complain. if not music than about something else. I can't say im against those double standards or for them. I don't support women walking around naked, so if i were to disagree about the double standard i would be supporting women looking proactive.

EVERYONE has some kind of double standard EVEN YOU.

Has anybody mentioned that the label may not have wanted Hannah Montana showing out like that? Could it be possible that the female's image, not her gender, was the label's standard?

These labels shell out a lot of money to promote an image. If the vid did not comport with the image they were promoting, then why blame the label for censoring the video, when the label pays the freight?

I find it hard to believe that, over a generation after Madonna, the industry is clamping down on women's freedom to express their sexuality in their work.

LD,

I agree with you, but I don't watch videos or want to see an artist other than live with no backing tracks, live arrangements, etc.

I want to hear them, and would prefer to never know anything other than their musical product.

I am so tired of image first, substance 2nd.

Yeah i really dont understand why people think that because im a man that something happening to a female shouldnt bother me. I mean, im not a child but if i hear a child is killed it bothers me, if i hear that a woman was brutalized it bothers me, and yes this double standard bothers me because if it was a blatant sexual act used to push a video than i can see a labels point to some extent, but its not, i mean its an exact replica of the video and theme that Depeche mode did 20 years ago and no one said a damn thing about the theme, the imagery etc...sad to say we seem to have NOT come forward.
