Midnight Star - Slow Jam (Live)

Great version of this song. One of the best slow songs by Babyface.

Okay...Here is the amazing thing about this performance and why songs and singers from back in the day are better than these wannabee's now. When I first clicked on it, it sounded and looked like they were lipsyncing. If it weren't for some of the extra riffs here and there, I would have not known the difference. I sounded like the original recording!! It also helps that the song was a well written song too. Today's "singers", couldn't touch this with a 50ft. pole.

I think it was one of the first songs that he had ever written.

I first discovered this song when I heard Usher and Monica do it on his My Way album back in the late 90's, then found out a few months after it that it was a remake. I guess they remade it cause Babyface was still popular in the late 90's and they were promoting how timeless it was.

This has been one of my favorites since Kevin "Slow Jamming"James, arguably one of the best slow jam djs in the world, started using it as his theme song!

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Great song! The operator in that song always cracked me up, when she says something like, "Sir, could you please speak up. I can just barely hear you." She sounded like she was bored out of her mind. lol

I think it was one of the first songs that he had ever written.

Babyface was in a band called 'Manchild' back in the 70s. He also wrote some of their material.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Babyface produced that version. He even added another verse and a bridge in Usher's version. It still doesn't compare to the original IMO.

I never knew that. I always thought it was a song that Midnight Star wrote themselves. giggle

Belinda, Bo Watson and Dewayne Johnson share songwriting credit also, but I believe Face wrote the basic song and it was presented to them.
