Will.i.am is producing tracks for U2's new album, according to Kanye West.

Writing on his blog, West revealed that the Black Eyed Peas musician has been working on the Irish rock band's twelfth studio album.

"Will.i.am is producing on U2's next album," said West. "I'm sure it will be dope judging from the crazy beats he's done in the past three years."

Speaking about the rumoured collaboration with U2 recently, will.i.am said: "I would love to do something with them. If that ever happens it would be a dream come true!

"I went to Bono's house. He has these summer parties and I went and had great food. It was the best. Those guys are the nicest people in the world."

U2's The Edge disclosed last month that the band had jettisoned new tracks laid down with producer Rick Rubin and brought in Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois to oversee further recording sessions.

will i am is not producing anything on a U2 record. daniel lanois, brian eno, and (maybe) rick rubin will be on this record. i would die to see flood on the producing credits, though...
