ZKs Mixtape – ALUMINIUM PIGS (this photo was meant to upload but wouldn't ) http://8tracks.com/zombie...inium-pigs I'm as fickle as they come, and my favourite songs might be my favourites for years, or days. Here are some that have stuck around for a while now This one's for you (featuring Robyn) Fläskkvartetten Swedish string quartet who have been around since 1980s, this song is from their 12th album last year. I love Robyn, and could have picked Be Mine or With Every Heartbeat, but chose this one, something not as widely heard. Dawn of the Dead Does if Offend You, Yeah? Don't know much about these guys, but their album is stuck in my car CD player, and this track is mostly on repeat. Wet Blanket Metric This is the song that got me into Metric. They have a lot of words in their songs Elemental Deep Forest From their biggest flop of an album, and my favourite, Music Detected. Beverly Jo Scott is guest vocalist on this one. Play Me Flesh Quartet (Fläskkvartetten) Released under their english name, from their 1996 album Fire, Fire. I am in love with you Imogen Heap I keep putting this one on mixtapes going on a couple of years now. Inhaler Hooverphonic Belgian group who had a hit with their song "2Wicky", which appeared on a soundtrack or two, but I always liked this song more. They have a different singer now. The Gentleman Who Fell Milla Jovovich This song has cool video, with tarantulas and everything. I got the album on eBay for a dollar, but this song was worth every cent. Pure Golden Palominos I've loved and hated the Golden Palominos on and off for at least a decade, and had this one at my wedding even. Blow x Blow Moloko From their Statues album which had the best album photo ever - a pint of lager in the sea. Platform Moon Jupiter One This NYC group is trying to hit the big time. They managed to get this song on to a Mazda ad in Europe. They won a songwriting competition 2 years ago with their song Countdown (recently featured on Heroes, pre-episode season 3), resulting in them being signed. I can't wait to hear them on radio down here!

Wow. A rogue mixtape... and yours has gotten more responses than mine! Oh well -- I know my tastes can be boring.
This looks good, actually. I'll listen and review soon. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I LOVE THIS MIX!
Every song would get at least a four-star rating in iTunes from me (except for Golden Palominos which gets three stars). Many I'd give a perfect five stars. Favorites are the Robyn string song , Milla (whose album I have and of which I've always been a fan since it came out back in the 90s) and Moloko (the strings remind me of Clare Fischer). You should have joined our club!

Definitely one of the coolest mixtapes. You really should have joined the group. I'd have liked to read your comments. Some things that stuck out...
This One's for You - My jury is out where Robyn is involved. But I LOVE this song. It's far and away the best I've heard of her. Love her voice against the strings... and there's something remotely "Diana Ross and the Supremes" in the feel of this track. Wet Blanket - Many friends at my school have been trying to get me into Metric, as they're quite the talk of the town here. This is the first opportunity I've had to hear them. I thought they'd be another forgettable electronic band, but I was apparently very wrong! Is guitar always this prominent in their stuff? I love everything about this, from the odd vocal cadence of the verses to the harmonies of the bridge. Elemental - Love the guitar line most. I don't think the song quite needs the eastern male vocal or the rapped bridge, but I suppose they add an interesting texture in what could be an otherwise mundane instrumental final third. Play Me - 2 for 2. Maybe I need to check out Fläskkvartetten. What percentage of their stuff is without guest vocal, would you say? I am in Love with You - Imogen Heap s another act I've been urged to check out, but have slept on. And I don't know why... everything I have heard of her, I like. Very funky track. Inhaler - This, "Pure" an "Platform Moon" may be the only songs that didn't altogether grab me. That said, it's not bad -- just doesn't rise to the charm of the others on the mix. This also sounds "soundtracky." Does all their stuff have this synthy, ambient feel? I'd give a second listen to some other title from them. The Gentleman Who Fell - How cool! How did this album perform? I'd think if she kept it up, she could have made a name for herself in music. I'd also love to know who produced this. Sounds like some stuff Stephen Lipson would come up with. Blow x Blow - Love it. And, yeah, the strings do have a very Claire Fischer a la "Crystal Ball" feel. ...I can't decide on a favorite. Lot's of good material here! Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

aaaaww thanks Wet Blanket - Many friends at my school have been trying to get me into Metric, as they're quite the talk of the town here. This is the first opportunity I've had to hear them. yeah, last 2 albums have had a fair few guitarry tracks Elemental - Love the guitar line most. I don't think the song quite needs the eastern male vocal or the rapped bridge, but I suppose they add an interesting texture in what could be an otherwise mundane instrumental final third.
It's Deep Forest, they put that stuff in every song Play Me - 2 for 2. Maybe I need to check out Fläskkvartetten. What percentage of their stuff is without guest vocal, would you say?
Out of the 12 albums, I know about 3 are totally instrumental, and most of the ones with guest vocalists have one or 2 instrumentals on them.
Later albums went in a whole different direction, which I didn't like. It's not all so ambienty, but trip hop The Gentleman Who Fell - How cool! How did this album perform? I'd think if she kept it up, she could have made a name for herself in music. I'd also love to know who produced this. Sounds like some stuff Stephen Lipson would come up with.
produced by Richard Feldman, co-produced by Mark Holden, co-written by the 3 of them. I only like this song on the whole album. Blow x Blow - Love it. And, yeah, the strings do have a very Claire Fischer a la "Crystal Ball" feel.
the whole album is very strings LOVE that
