I love that place!!!

except for Ashanti, Cherrelle & Millie
they were 98 cent or 50 cent...
I got Musiq's Juslisen for 50 cent eek

there was definitely SLIM PICKINS
in that location, compared to the one
I like to frequent in North Dallas

cool

A friend of mine is the marketing director for Half-Price Books. You would not believe what he did in a former life:

Good shit, Chris. H-Town had some bomb-ass record stores back in the day when I lived there. There was one near 3rd Ward that had a ton of Prince shit that they didn't know what it was worth so I juiced them for it. cool

Interestingly enough, I hit up Half Priced Books this weekend, too. I went to different ones in Dallas. I ended up getting Jean Carne's "When I Find You Love". I actually got the promo version with an original typewritten press sheet enclosed on Philly International letterhead.

Also, the promo 12" of So Excited from Janet.

The cover blown up to 13" is something to see razz

Also, Ask Rufus from Rufus and Chaka. It even had the original poster. Very Cool!

Only one good soundwaves left in Houston and that's on Montrose..even they have given up some of their sales space to a coffee shop and surfboard outfit. Frenchy's is still open but the 3rd Ward area is changing..drove by TSU yesterday..what a crappy looking University, can't believe I gave them 6 good years of my life!

Anyone from Houston remember a place called TOP HITS. That wrecka stow was the greatest in Houston, EVA!!!

I closed down last year or something like that, the last music I purchased there was the J5's Skywriter/Get It Together disc ... memories. I got so much Jackson 5/MJ stuff there when I was a kid it wasn't even funny.

Shannon - Let The Music Play 12" b/w Dub Version - always loved this tune. I thought I had her LP but anyway this single was in perfect shape and cheap so I picked it up.

New Edition - A Little Bit Of Love 12" b/w INSTRUMENTAL omg and ACAPELLA omfg - and it was in glossy new condition. I love this track, and I heard a Run DMC mashup with that acapella.

Cherrelle & Alexander O'Neal - Saturday Love 12" EXTENDED VERSION b/w INSTRUMENTAL and ACAPELLA woot! - I actually have yet to find Cherrelle's album with this song on it on vinyl but I love this song. I have also been listening to a house song that samples Alexander's verse from this acapella.

Eminem - Infinite 2LP - a vinyl bootleg of the album that came before 1998's Slim Shady LP.

Grandmaster Flash - Freedom 12"
The Sequence - Funk You Up 12"
I had these songs for the longest time on CD only. Finally found some vinyl copies in acceptable condition.

Beastie Boys - Hold It Now Hit It 12" b/w INSTRUMENTAL and "Acapulco" lol (the acapella) - I know, ugly sleeve but that's what alot of Def Jam singles look like up in Canada for some reason. I read about how Russell Simmons was surprised to learn that's how CBS was distributing his label's stuff like that in Canada.

Nas - If I Ruled The World 12" b/w INSTRUMENTAL - My favorite song from the It Was Written album, and probably the only thing I would play off that album if I was rockin a party so there ya go.

Doug E Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew - The Show 12" b/w La-Di-Da-Di - I had other copies of this song on vinyl but it was some edited version where Slick Rick's interpolation of "Sukiyaki" was removed, or it wasn't on Reality Records.

oh, a couple CDs too:

Mtume - Juicy Fruit album - I had in on vinyl already but wanted the CD. nuts lol

Sleater-Kinney - The Hot Rock - most of their albums are "imports" up in Canada so can be kind of a hassle to find a CD at a nice price.
