How many good songs have to be on a CD for it to be a must have CD? How many jams does a CD have to have on it to be a jammin' CD. 3 songs, 4 songs, the whole thing?
we must agree that most music today is shit! It doesn't matter what genre. All music now adays really seems to be lacking.

Honestly its more about the length and tracks on the cd to begin with. The 90s were the overkill generation, 18 tracks and 80minute, thats way too much music and the reason why the "great album" title cannot be applied anymore for the most part. Now artists, most of them, are starting to catch on that no one wants this overkill anymore, and getting back to basics of 10tracks 40minutes, the way "great albums" were always made. For a 'must have' I'd say at least 75% or more. No matter how many tracks a substantial amount of them must be very good to high quality for it to be a must have disc. Less than that is just 'good' or 'okay' to me. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

For me - 50% of the songs have to be tight before I call it a must-have. If 50% of the songs are tight, then that means the rest of the CD is at least decent-to-solid. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

The thing with long albums is the fact that you get bored even with artists you like. Prince and many others went through this in the 90's. Prince's "Gold experience" could have been a pinncale album for him but it had too many tracks too many interludes and listeners got bored, skipped tracks etc... For me,a CD has to have 4 good songs on it and I'm satisfied.I never expect to like a CD all the way through anymore.Just give me 4 good songs and it's cool.Of course,if it has more than 4 good songs, that's great but I rarely find that is the case.

For me to buy an album, I have to like at least half the songs I hear. To keep it in my collection, I have to like all the way through. For it to go into my A-list collection, I have to like it all the way through and be able to memorize it, often lyrically, but moreso musically.

depends on how good the song is...if it is really good I will buy a whole album based on one song.....

See, now that's how it useta be. You kids today can buy single song downloads. Back in the days of vinyl if there was a killer song that you just had to have and there was no single 45rpm release you bought the album and that was it.

co-sign. This is why I'm kinda giving Kanye's new album the "side eye" I'm not sure if I'm gonna like half of it. I mean, I like 3 of the songs that have been leaked. I hope dude pulls it off "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

For me it's a little more like how many bad songs are on it. I can maybe put up with 2.

If I really, really like an album, I can get into the filler tracks. That's kind of, like, my private joy.

depending on the sequencing of the good cuts, it can be as little as 3 or 4. usually have to dig at least half or 3/4 of the album to consider it a must-have, though.

Same here. Diamonds And Pearls had some good singles and some good fillers and had some really bad singles and bad fillers so I don't consider it a great album. On the other hand Planet Earth has nothing as good as Gett Off but to me at least there is not a really bad track in there so I consider it a better album,

The majority of the album needs to be good for it to be a must have. And it should have no more than two (three at the most) ballads on it. One midtempo song is OK but I would prefer none. Andy is a four letter word.

At least 5 to 6 good songs. When it get to six it can almost be classic to me. The last one that did that was Solange's last album and Madonna's being before that.
I always listen to the boring tracks and at least I can say I heard the whole thing before dismissing it forever. But at least 5 really good ones to be a decent album out ouf 10 - 14 tracks. I mean a whole Side A worth. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Same here. Filler tracks have a certain energy to them that I just like. Sometimes an artist has a really cool beat or groove, but they can't really flesh it out, so it ends up being a 1:00 or 2:00 minute track with scant or no lyrics, but the groove and context of it is still really cool. Some examples: Nadia Oh's "Rip It Up," Mr Hudson's "Everything Happens To Me," Queen La's "Just A Flow," Calvin Harris' "Traffic Cops," Sam Sparro's "Recycle It," Groove Armada's "From The Rooftops."

FILLER ALERT
I used to think *NSYNC's "Digital Get Down" was so FLY back in the day. Just the beat of it. Thought it was so GEKKED out.

I generally need to enjoy atleast 50% of the album to buy it...and if I like that much, the other half generally will grow on me If you will, so will I

at least 5-6 will make it a must have
7-9 makes it a classic man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
