You missed the point (deliberately?). She could cancel the gigs without resorting to bullshit theatrics. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Yeah, but with being sick probably some insurance kicks in... it doesn't if she just says "Fuck you, I wont do this gig!"! And again, we don't know if she truely wasn't sick... maybe it just came in handy to get out of unwanted shows! [Edited 11/6/08 7:56am]

I would assume insurance companies would be pretty wise to those kind of tricks. And besides, there are so many artists that have just cancelled poor selling shows in the past (including Prince). The fake illness was unnecessary, but totally in keeping with her character. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Well, at this point the "fake illness" is still just an assumption... no fact!

It's cute that you're trying to maintain a front of loyalty, but I suspect the truth is beginning to dawn on you. Still, best to keep those thoughts quiet for the moment, right? “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
- Thomas Jefferson | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Jeez, you still have no idea about me... I'm open to everything, but unlike you I don't make my assumptions or suspicions or whatever out to be a fact! I'm not saying that it's impossible she faked her illness, even though I don't believe it (I do believe though that poor ticket sales are the reason for not rescheduling these shows), but why get mad about something I don't have any proof for?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Nah, you're still avoiding the obvious conclusions. But the fact that you're acknowledging the possibility of fakery shows progress. I'm proud of you. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

I respect anoybody's right not to have to divulge their personal medical problems. However using faked illness as an excuse for poor tix sales is unforgivable. I agree and really hope that she isn't found to be faking this because I'll be very disappointed. I remember back in 2004 when Britney Spears supposedly got a knee injury and had to cancel the entire US leg of her Onyx Tour because she had to have knee repair surgery, yet pictures of her surfaced shortly after this happened of her kneeling down in a store with a huge orthopedic brace on her leg. I've never had knee surgery, but I've done several knee and other orthepedic surgeries on animals and know that they aren't supposed to be doing any major movement for a couple of weeks, sometimes a month or two, and must remain in the brace until the doctor says it can be removed. I'm pretty sure it's not much different with human knee surgery. After it was reported that she had either just recently undergone the surgery or was about to undergo it, there she was on Polaroid film kneeling down and bending her knee. To this day, there is no doubt in my mind that she faked a knee injury to get out of her tour because she obviously wanted to be able to spend more time with K-Fed instead putting on a great tour for her loyal fans, but she's always had half-truths and deceit as key elements for the majority of her career. Just amazed how many people still praise her, when she's always just been a less talented, poor carbon copy of Janet and Madonna. Prince Rogers Nelson

During the show in Moline, Illinois, Spears suffered a fall during "(I Got That) Boom Boom" and injured her knee, which caused the show to come to a halt without an encore. Spears went on stage and told the audience "I hurt my leg really bad, sorry I cannot finish the show. But thank you, Moline". Shows in Chicago and Detroit were postponed to the end of the first leg of the tour. The show in Cleveland was postponed to the summer leg because of illness, and canceled altogether when the summer shows were scrapped.
The third leg of the tour, which would have been a second North American trek, as well as Asia and Australia, was canceled because of the injury resulting from a fall on the set of Britney's video shoot for "Outrageous" in Queens, NY. She underwent arthroscopic knee surgery at a New York hospital to remove floating cartilage. Spears would not perform onstage again until The M+M's Tour in 2007.
