A reference to Marvin? What is Madonna talking about?

What she actually said was "They were channeling Marvin and other artists from the 70's on that record. If you listen to it, it sounds like something Marvin would have had on his "Midnight Love" CD. It reminds of "Rocking After Midnight, actually. The "Beat goes on", is similar to this track due to the Marvin harmonies as well as it's disco sound.

It reminds me of his "Rockin after Midnight" which is Midnight Love, because of the his vocals in the background of Madonna's track.

OH! That's cool then.

Okay, this is what she said:

"It's a bit of a homage to Marvin Gaye... We were channeling different artists from the past for this song..."

That's right, Donna Summer comes to mind. I still don't think it has much to do with Marvin Gaye.

See, I really don't understand this. With a show that is choreographed down to the very last detail, what is the point in seeing it more than once? Especially on back-to-back nights. And moreso when the tickets are so expensive?

I understand it with an artist like Prince or Tori or... I don't know, whoever, that changes up the setlist night to night. But I've never really understood the point of spending so much money on seeing a show that's exactly the same thing more than once.

I'm sure he has better songs, like the classics we all know from the 60's and 70's, but other than sexual healing, I didn't really know his 80's stuff....so PLEASE let me enjoy my moment biggrin

i saw the rolling stones on hbo a few years back. no theatrics, just them playing their hits. sometime in 1990, i had tix to a janet concert. i got them from my supervisor at the ad agency where i was working. i gave them away to my friend who had a son about 14 at the time. i wasn't that much older, but i could not imagine going to see janet - even for free - for the very reasons you cite.

i recall reading a newspaper comments section online about a madonna show during her drowned world tour. more than one person reported how she dropped her microphone - and the audio tape kept rolling! even the dialogue and interaction with the audience was choreographed. should we really be calling these "broadway shows" music or concert tours?

She has backing tracks but if you actually would listen to the many clips you would HEAR that she's singing live. She sometimes sounds like a cow, giving birth.

I.e. Get Together live was terrible.
On her current tour she seems to sing live more than ever since the WTG tour.

that wasn't my point, really.

it was that the show is exactly the same night to night, so if you've seen it once, you've seen everything it has to offer.
