Miles would've defintely collabed with Tribe, Nas, Gangstarr, Common....

I don't like it that much. I checked it out though.
Miles does rap. Not exactly earth shattering. Kind of awkward actually.

It wasn't really seen as a sellout, especially as it came out after his death. But he had done a few records prior to "Doo-bop" that just scremead S-E-L-L O-U-T far much more than this one. "Rap" wasn't even considered that commercial at the time, had he wanted a commercial record he would have had recorded another "Time After Time".
I liked the album in the 90s. Haven't heard it in ages, although I do think I must have a copied tape of it somewhere in the house. Probably doesn't sound as fresh as it did back in the day.

The only stand out on that album, to me, was High Speed Chase. That rapper/producer that was all over the rest of the material irritated the hell out of me.

He probably would have gone into the direction of The Chemical Brothers or Air. He would try to push the orders of 'jazz' or try to invent something new. But it's kinda useless asking yourself what mr Davis would be doing. It would be like asking; "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart? What would he be doing?"

The music was on par with other stuff of his later career, like Tutu, for example. Not Bitches Brew or Kind of Blue, but Miles never loked back and this was no exception.
But some of the lyrics "give me some of that do bop sound...with Miles Davis!" My Legacy

For better or worse, he lived in the present. My Legacy
