Michael Jackson's "Ghosts" Tomorrow's Halloween....why aren't you guys talking about this?
I like it even more than the "Thriller" video.

I prefer it over Thriller as well altho it had some weird editing issues here and there. I really thought Michael was going to attempt to move forward into acting after this then I got wise. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I love this thing! It has some of my favourite MJ songs in in. Will definitely be watching it tomorrow.

Did anyone find that when he tried to 'butch' up his voice it just seemed a bit... hilarious.
The special affects are interesting in this. And the subject matter made his overall grotesque appearance seem fitting. Indeed this was far better executed than graffiti bridge. At least MJ cares about the product he releases, if not his own grotesque appearance.

When this first premiered. I found it REALLY boring. It felt like every minute was building up to something, but it led to nothing

Great song, great dancing, great film. He still looked good here.

Why is it out of print? This should be re-released anually every fall for Halloween.

We can look at this every Halloween for free:

Isn't this the one they played on VH1 a few years ago? In the one I saw, a fat white man (played by Michael) comes into a house with a bunch of kids. The man kept calling Michael a "freak". Michael turns into a monster and the kids scream...."oh, cool!".
If so, I thought it was stupid as hell and his grown ass having those kids in it made me want to barf. Andy is a four letter word.

We can look at this every Halloween for free: For years, with that pale face, he's looked more like Michael Myers than Michael Jackson. [Edited 10/30/08 10:43am] Andy is a four letter word.

Better than "Thriller?" No Way! It's not bad though, it fits really well for something to watch on tv for this holiday.

I personally love everything about it. (Besides one or two scenes with the special effects that seemed over the top for me), but the dancing, his acting, music and even the story are excellent. I personally like it more than Moonwalker which I personally find ridiculous (besides the fact that he´s hot in it and there´s Smooth Criminal ) I like the fact that the story of Ghosts is so simple. Definately his masterpiece. Thriller´s great and all that, but overplayed, just as Billie Jean. This is more special. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I really enjoyed this, I remember the T.V premiere over here, and watched it with my family, after that I went to a birthday party and everybody there had seen it too and talked about it. The effects are the shit!

Besides, kids love me!” That's exactly what it was about. He had started making it right before the 1993 allegations then after that he and Stephen King rewrote the whole thing "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I remember when it was premiered on VH1 around Halloween a few years back. I like how he was poking fun at how the public perceives him.

This is one of the more blatant examples. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Oh, don't even get me started on "Ghosts". I absolutely love and adore that video. Too bad more people don't know about it. It is truly one of the best things Michael has ever done. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

I thought this was going to announce even more kids came forward. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

I love how he "communicates" with the public, but I think he overestimates the public´s intelligence because most people do not get the fact the he´s winning most of the time. They think that they are. They see everything he does as stupid and foolish and do not realize that it´s him just playing with them and maybe even him making fun of them. But maybe it´s just me interpreting things this way. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. Besides, kids love me!” That's exactly what was going on. I don't get how some people didn't pick up on that. It was SO OBVIOUS he was making reference to those allegations, among other things. "Ghosts" is not just some silly video with kids and "scary" effects. It's about more than that. What I got from watching "Ghosts" is that I realized Michael is more than aware of what the public's perception of him is than I had thought. He know's people think he's a "freak, monster, weirdo", etc. but the message he seems to be trying to convey is that he is very misundertstood and all he wants to do is to entertain and bring joy into people's lives with his music. I thought he was confronting many issues about his personal life in this though -from the allegations to plastic surgery-, he made reference to the "big" controversies. Just listen to some of the things he says and does in this film and it's obvious. Listening to "Is It Scary" especially, that song is all about how he thinks most of the public views him. Ghosts is autobiographical in many ways. I've learned more about him actually by watching "Ghosts" than pretty much seeing any interview of his or reading anything about him. His personal issues are pretty evident in almost all his work, I think. You don't need to think very hard to see it. It's just that in the case of Ghosts, he spends a good half an hour whacking people over the head with it, just to make sure we haven't missed his message for the last 20 years.

Yes, definitely about the allegations but not just a video but an taking the chance to thumb his nose at those involved. Maybe not the best idea. He might as well have flipped them the bird. I knew someday something would come up again. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

At the moment I can't be bothered, but the most profound (and damning) revelations in Mike's work have never been commented on, even though they are pretty brazen. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

[Edited 10/30/08 12:18pm] Yes, but by saying he's just misunderstood, Mike proves that he is the one misunderstanding reality. Plying children with alcohol and providing them porn in order to lure them into your bed and have sex with them actually does make you a monster. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |
