He's one of only a handful of male vocalists to rival Marvin, BUT.... nobody will top (nor equal) Marvin's version of "What's Going On". [Edited 10/27/08 20:07pm]

Not better as Marvin, he comes close though which is impressive. Donny was the kinda guy to hear a song and perform it two to three weeks later himself LIVE, now that's some talent.

i dare to say better. if you compare it to marvin live . ( also depends when in time) later years marvin couldnt reach this level imo. i just like the instrumentation and voice of donny. a little bit over marvins live versions.

Neither. I love Donny, but I've never really liked this cover at all. It doesn't hold a candle to Marvin. I don't like the increased tempo, the different rhythm of the lyrics, the lack of the sax parts... The original is a perfect recording; this is not. forgive me for this, but Timmy? I can't post in your other thread http://prince.org/msg/8/283249 cause the server keeps kicking me off (in your thread) but that's a hot mess... I didn't make it passed the introduction of that TTD song

That's alright. I don't know why but sometimes the site will fail to comprehend for a while. Yeah that video was rough.
