You guys wanna hear something funny? Back in 1982 or 83 when this song came out,I had no idea what the phrase "tearin it up" meant.So I hear this song and assumed she was singing about a no-good boyfriend....informing him that she is "tearing up" all the love letters that he sent her...lol...

| I found this album on a vinyl dig several months ago but I haven't listened to it yet.It's the album that contains her funky duet with Rick James,"Slow Dancin" which I love. | |

Loved the story about the party she attended in Rick James' house after the recording. Supposedly she let this big Mafioso dude have it for getting too fimiliar with her(esp when he saw how loose Rick & Chaka acted in front of each other), according to Rick, she burbed a "shut the fuck up" and the guy kept his mouth shut untill she got outta there Now THATS the Chaka I know, goddammit  [Edited 10/27/08 17:04pm] | |
