Dexy's Midnight Runners I'm led to believe that the Dexy's are viewed as a one hit wonder in the USA? Is that true?
Disappointing if true, the Dexys were truly a great band. Kevin Rowland might have been a touch on the bonkers side, and had his flaws, but showed more touches of genius than most back in the day. "Come on Eileen" became a bit of an albatross and not really representative “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

They were definitely a one-hit wonder here in the USA. "Come On Eileen" went all the way to #1 in 1983 (incidentally topping the chart for one week between "Billie Jean" and "Beat It"). None of their other singles even reached the top 40 here. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

They really shouldnt have been in my eyes though. Offered so much more “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

I'm a great fan of their debut album...that's one of the best british pop records of that era, I think. It is too bad that they're only represented by that one song here, but that's better than not being known at all, I suppose.

The debut is a sensational record, really underrated “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”
