GREAT has to be earned, and honestly so does the word and term ARTIST. I see these terms passed out to singers with one album, enough of that shit already! Every other month some magazine has the new "best band in the world" on the cover. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Yeah, I miss the days when Color Me Badd and New Kids on the Block were rocking the charts with their innovative grooves. I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world.

here we go with the shit hop comments again.....go figure hip hop is still around and it is not going away so if you do not like it, turn the f-ing station oh, and by the way....if you think Prince non-music is the place to discover new music then you are in the wrong place welcome to the old school r&b forum! and it is funny because usually the older crowd complains here about music sucking these days.....and you are 19! how come i am still finding out about new music and you are not? don't give up hope young one.....you will find it

why would you like at the charts for that?

It's all over TV also. It's every damn where. Just it's mere damn presence (which is unescapable) is depressing. oh, and by the way....if you think Prince non-music is the place to discover new music then you are in the wrong place
welcome to the old school r&b forum! I know and old school music is why I'm here. I wouldn't be caught dead listening to dull new shit. It's all as slow as classical music and I'm not 86 years old. and it is funny because usually the older crowd complains here about music sucking these days.....and you are 19! how come i am still finding out about new music and you are not? don't give up hope young one.....you will find it
Excuse me, but I haven't been 19 in over 19 years. I'm 41. You are thinking of someone else. Andy is a four letter word.

Don't forget Milli Vanilli and Bananarama. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Ain't nobody REALLY trying to change the game here. Just go on about older music. I already know the science on this board so I approach it accordingly. A lot of people are just in their own "zones" and couldn't give a fuck about what's going on today with my generation. So I don't give a fuck what they say. Point blank.

Music wasn't nearly as fucked up as it is now but it was in it's infant stages of becoming fucked up. You got to go back before the Shitney Houston era, before 1985, to find an era that had very few bullshit acts and you didn't have to go "hunt" for good music. You are right about the late 80s/early 90s though. If you went on the hunt for good music, you could find it. I listened to house music back then and it wasn't in the mainstream. However, around the mid to late 1990s, the majority of the black artists abandoned house music and it got a more European sound and all the funkiness left it. It started sounding acid or trance like. So yeah, underground music like that still exists but it ain't funky. And if it ain't funky, it ain't worth being made. Next. Andy is a four letter word.

[quote] LiquidGold said: vainandy said: And where do you suggest we look for them? In a box which is underneath a ton of other boxes which is in the bottom of a closet in a submarine at the bottom of the ocean in a foreign country? Who the hell can go through all that trouble? There's a simple solution though. Take shit hop off the radio and put jams back on the radio. That's a much easier way to find music and the way it should be. I find music through word of mouth and going to an independent record store that allows me to listen before I buy Most people that have made suggestions to me by word of mouth, have suggested stuff that I don't like. When I say there is no good actual "music" out there and they recommend something, it is usually "music" but it is slow boring music. I grew up throwing down hard and I don't lower my standards down to "dull" just because the majority of the world has. As for independent record stores, I have had a few people recommend stuff to me that was decent but these artists aren't in the record stores (at least not in my area). A few years ago, someone recommended a group called Chromeo and that CD is not in any store in my area. or even listen before I buy through an online vendor.
I don't have the luxury of listening online. I only have internet at work and it has blocks on all media players. As for listening at home, if someone out there is willing to pay for me an internet service with a high enough speed to listen to this music, I will be glad to take it. wtf is this shit I don't know what happened there. Mara was one of the most musically-open peeps on the Org and now he/she has quit for good. This whole meltdown was very surprising, always seemed like a very level-headed person--almost makes me wonder if the account got hacked or something. If it wasn't...I just hope he/she's doing OK
