What's the Difference Between a "Hook" and a "Chorus"?

Maybe some of the Org musicians can help a brotha out on that? Thanks in advance.

they can be one in the same but they don't have to be.

the hook can be a line in the song - or a melody within the song - that grabs the listeners ear. it can be right before the chorus, it can be the chorus, or it can be anywhere else.

(i think, lol)

So the hook can actually be the (a) melody? Damn. I haven't heard that one, but cool.

That's the sense I always got : The Hook is the catchy part of the song, but it could be anywhere, It might even be just a catchy guitar or bassline.

So it can be in the chorus , but It doesn't have to be, it could be anywhere in the song...

nod I consider that a hook (for me) - a melody line ... and the chorus the main set of the song .. e.g. that song 'Let's Work'.. the bassline hook in that apart from the chorus is smokin'..
