He says he was arrested last year because he did a show and he didn't report to his parole officer or some such. I don't know. El has always played fast and loose with the truth

damn he's getting too old for this shit. you wish hope and pray for people to get their shit together, but once it keeps happening over and over and over again, you finally just have to say FUCK IT, they made their bed, now they must lie in that shit. so to hell with it. you can't keep believing in people who don't obviously believe in themselves and keep fuckin' up over the same old tired bullshit. that's how I feel about O.J.'s wack ass too.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Well, hopefully, there is a difference between El and OJ. I think in El's case, there is hope, but he is too old for this. I mean he has kids that need him to be a father and his mom is to old for this heartache.

I'm only kidding. Don't take it serious. I wish the best for El but
like it's been said he's too old for this nonsense.

Actually, I heard the real number might be closer to 16. El does not see the 2 kids he had with his first wife Tracy. Apparently, he got deep deep into drugs at the time and I think she took the kids and ran. Tracey remarried someone in Texas who is very high up in state government. I don't know if El is forbidden to see the kids or what, but I don't think he is part of their lives. Those kids are in their mid to late teens now. And you would think mama Debarge would keep her mouth shut and not put her kids' business in the street like that. I know my mamma wouldn't do that.

He was rumored to have been on coke as early as '86. He was the last holdout in his family, cause by then, everyone in the group was or had done drugs. I saw some pics of him from 86 and he is thin, beyond gaunt. Now El has always been lean, I mean he has never had much meat on him, but it is obvious looking at the pics that something was going on.

And his recent pictures showed he hasn't faded from that look. confused In his 2005 or 2006 photos where he's hugged up on Chico and taking pictures with Jermaine and 'em, his eyes are glassy and he looks zoned out on something. neutral Plus somebody said that El and George Clinton were interviewed in Detroit and El was acting crazy. confused

I heard about the Detroit thing, too. Someone needs to do an intervention for him. I wonder what has tore up his soul so bad that he has turned to drugs.

A lot of things presumably. I mean we just recently heard about the DeBarges' father being a notorious jackass. Plus there's the stress from the music career, disappointment in the music business since he sold his rights to Motown, etc. I'm sure Bobby's death hasn't been easy to get over. A lot of things could be really fucking with him now. confused

I don't think he sold his publishing to Motown-at least not voluntarily.

Well it's worded wrong but I do believe Motown has copyright of everything DeBarge though.

Yeah, cause they got a really shitty record deal, but then again, they get royalties from sampling, so who knows?

He seems to be on the path to self destruction. It really is a darned shame seeing someone that talented just disintegrate like this.

Yeah, I think I speak for a lot of us when I tell El, "Stop! Don't Tease Me." At some point he needs to stop following the beat of the rhythm of the night, sho 'nuff.

This is what I found out: El is actually being held on three charges. The most serious of them allowing no bail. The other two are for bail of $20,000 each.
