You know how for the past 5 years or so we've had r&b and hip hop music shoved down our throats that have percussion with claps and a repetitive piano hook (or a guitar or synthesizer sound sometimes) ? Eg. songs like We Belong Together, Be Without You, Irreplaceable and ALL the clones that came after it and won't go away? Well I'm aware that most of it is inspired by 80's r&b, hip hop and drum & bass/freestyle, but I would like a list, and possibly clips of these tracks that have similar elements so I can compare them.

So far the ones I can think of off the top of my head are:

Between the Sheets-Isley Brothers
Only You Can Make Me Happy-Surface
Sexual Healing-Marvin Gaye

I think alot of 80s songs that don't actually have a clap oddly
would be done with a clap in this era

Alexander O'Neal - Sunshine
Roger - I Want To Be Your Man
Keith Sweat & Jacci McGhee - Make It Last Forever

Thing is, rarely did you hear a clap through the whole song. 80s ones had more change ups in the programming.

I also agree that even though there were claps, there were other elements to the songs like a bass and other instruments, which today's stuff doesn't have as often.
