It's a shame it has never seen the light of day. I've done some research on it a few years ago and even went to the Motown forums and asked about it, one of the people working there they said it's really up to Stevie if it will ever be released. Some songs did get released like "Buttercup"'and "You're supposed to keep your love for me for"'for Jermaine's solo album "Let's Get Serious". Apparently there was also a song submitted for "Thriller" by Stevie, that Michael said was a great song but didn't fit the sound they were going for on there. I wonder if it''s a totally different song as the "Pretty Faces"'or "A Pretty face Is"'song also submitted for "Dangerous"?

Was the album ever completed, or did they just record a few songs? Why was the project scrapped?

Just unfortunate that THIS gets shelved for 35 years but something like the Music And Me album gets released.

I know of those songs, it has been said there's easily an album of material ready for release right NOW but I could never get confirmation on that, but knowing how many songs Stevie records(especially during his classic period) and how his vault is that comes as no surprise though and seems likely. Maybe someday we'll hear them all. There's a lot of songs from the "Songs In The Key Of Life" project that Stevie still hasn't released today.Plus "Fullfillingness First Finale" was originally gonna be two albums released after one another too.

Damn, i want this album so bad. Thanks for posting the article There is hope, The Supremes and Diana ('Blue' and 'There's aPlace for us') had these long forgotten albums released 30-something years after the were recorded.

www.soulfuldetroit.com has forums with old Motown personnel regularly posting on there, Motown50 is coming up in January, somebody should really get on this and beg and plead.

For some reason i always thought the Stevie-produced album was a couple of years earlier in Michaels career, The fact it's late in his Motown days and right bang in the middle of Stevie's hot streak is cause for much excitement.

Prince's vault?, i'd take this over that anyday! smile

the song Stevie wrote for Thriller I don't know but Betcha Wouldn't Like It from Quincy's The Dude album would fit (ie the whole production is typical Thriller)

I'd love for them to be able to do something, unfortunately it seems to be up to the Wonderman. And Stevie SITS on his material.

Oh i know, but this seems such a shame not to mention crazy, i think it'd sell quite well even today.
Perhaps he could do a limited release or something via hip-o-select. shrug

He don't look "pissed", he looks moody as the article states, lol.

Michael has that "I just got out of bed to see Stevie record" look, lol. I wonder if there's a similar photo with MJ and Marvin Gaye. razz

I know what pissed means. lol

And he don't look it, lol. Why would he be mad anyway? lol

It ain't like he knew how to work the synthesizers like Stevie. If he was, he was just jealous. ohgoon
