Interesting mix of grand disco songs from Donna. Donna is in great voice in both but they are not favorites. I prefer her edgier stuff.

"I Love You" was an important single for Donna.Released in the fall of 1977,it was her first single in which she got to use her strong, powerful voice. Most of her previous singles featured her falsetto/whispery "moaning" voice ("Spring Affair","I Feel Love","Love To Love You Baby",etc).

I never thought of that... Donna has said that she couldn't WAIT to start using the full power of her voice On the first four or five albums, they were trying to market her as this sex goddess so her vocals were toned down and whispery....she wasn't allowed to really SING.They just wanted her to sound sexy and seductive. But in the late 70s,she was finally able to prove that she can really sing.Compare the weak vocals of "Try Me I Know We Can Make It" to the dynamic vocals of "Last Dance".

Yes. Very different approaches. I could imagine "Last Dance" being sung in a little girl's whispery vocal but how about the idea of "Try Me..." being belted out? That would be awesome. Does Donna every do that one in her shows (obviously not the full version)?

If they ever make that long-rumored biopic on Donna,I know there will a pivotal scene where she's in the recording studio, trying to belt out a song while Giorgio tells her "No no...you need to tone it down Donna! Let's have some more of that low, whispery voice"

That damn cake got left out in the rain because she was jammin' so hard she forgot about it. Andy is a four letter word.

I think she performed "Try Me" on a recent tour from a few years ago.She also performed rare stuff like "Cold Love" and "Spring Affair"....songs that fans never expected to hear her sing again.
