Ryan Adams and the Cardinals "Cadinology" one the years best

Once again Ryan cuts a record with his band the "cardinals" and NO dont let that title "cardinology" fool you into thinking its a collection of old songs, its brand new stuff from the most profilic musician songwriter over the last decade and half. And once again its one of their best works, last year Ryan's "Easy tiger" was possibly the best album of 2007 and this one is very close to being the best of 2008. Ive lost count at how many ep's, cds, side projects and guest spots ryan has done, but put it this way, hes planning a box set next year of all new songs, another record with the cardinals, a live record, a dvd and thats by august 09.

Heard cardinology the other day, and it was nice. Surprisingly rock edged considering the Cardinals country leanings. Its not as instantly likeable as Easy Tiger which was brilliant, but its got some great tracks - as all Ryan records do. Im going to see him next month in Manchester which is always an experience.

Did you get the follow the lights ep? That was god damn amazing. Between that and Easy Tiger he could have had the record of his career.

I saw Ryan with the Cardinals 3 times already, they are the best band he has ever had. Last november in Amsterdam was magic, I had no regrets that I skipped on seeing Me'Shell that same night!

Indeed - they are the best support he's had, although i miss the female who was initially in the band (cant remember her name off the top of my head). Saw him last year, and after several years of concerts where Ryan would just do his own thing on stage, for once he was focused and professional. That said - ive never been to a bad concert. All are an experience in some way.

Yes amazing EP! I like the rockier leanings on this one, and like his folkish stuff, its mainly his lyrics that always are the clincher.

2 years ago in Amsterdam, they were at the Paradiso, sold out.....Ryan was very, very moody... They played an excellent set, but Ryan & the band didn't say a single word to the audience. That said, it was a bad crowd, talking loudly during the quiet songs, you could see he was getting annoyed. After almost 2 hours they just quit in the middle of a song and left the stage.....end of show.

Last year it was completely the opposite, Ryan was in good spirit like I had never seen him before.....it was great!

He is really pushing this to be a 'The Cardinals'-album, rather than 'Ryan Adams & The Cardinals'...

http://www.cardinology.com/tour

Looks like they're playing bigger venues as well( sad ), and it's always the same: he always tours the UK & Scotland, but leaves us continentals waiting! pissed

it seems like for the December tourdates they'll be opening for Oasis disbelief.....I wish Ryan would finally let his obsession for Oasis go!

I know. when i heard he was touring with Oasis i was gutted, thankfully he's seen fit to do some gigs on his own. And yes, my ticket says the Cardinals featuring Ryan Adams - i think alot of solo artists do this dont they - when they get a really good band that they gel with behind them - they wanna push them up front.

I saw him twice last year - once in feb when it was just him and the cardinals drummer. He rambled through these never ending monologues for about 2/3rds of the show - and really annoyed a large portion of the crowd. Then he'd sit at the piano and perform a mind blowingly good version of Why Do They Leave that left us in the palm of his hand. When i saw him in November he was completely different - hardly said a single word to the crowd - but put on a great performance. He certainly doesnt have consistency in his performances - but there is a certain charm in that. most Ryan fans know what they're getting when they buy a ticket. Yet you still get some knob requesting him to sing "Summer of 69".

I can not wait for this..

I honestly find myself thinking on 90% of his stuff, and I have just stratched the surface, that this guy is gifted beyond belief.

He, Aimee Mann, and John Frustciante have restored my faith in music.

I now buy anything they all put out.

Anyone know how the book he released is?
Music is the best...

'Stop' is probably one of the most beautiful songs he has ever recorded.....best song of the record.
