Pussycat Dolls: "I Hate This Part" Wow so I just caught this video on MTV the other day, and liked the song so much I went and downloaded it. I really like it and its a more mature sound from them. Dare I ask, are they growing as "artists"?
Oh, I see they also included Lady Gaga's music video in this too... MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent

Their best song, its the second single for the Euro markets and most likely will be the third single for the Usa. The single "whatcha think bout that" is the us single currently, but it should have been "I hate this part". It is the third single in the US . Whatcha Think Bout That flopped hard (as did they album) so they rushed on to this one. Hope it does well, it's pretty decent.

It is the third single in the US . Whatcha Think Bout That flopped hard (as did they album) so they rushed on to this one. Hope it does well, it's pretty decent. Actually the album is selling about 10% behind the pace of the first, and with the industry down 60% since their first record, thats better than forecast. Plus they are not doing any us promo till next year after they tour uk and europe. The second and third videos were shot within a week of each other and two more are being shot while on tour. The second single didnt catch because no one wants to hear Missy elliot at this point anymore, anything with her on it shouldnt be a single for anyone. The album is actually doing better in other markets quicker than the first one did because of the reverse promo they are doing this time around, the worldwide sales are far greater in europe than the usa, plus the first album was a slow burn despite all the singles it had, it stayed on the charts just about 2 years, no one is coming close to doing that anymore, at least not mainstream. A flop is a flop is a flop. It will be lucky to sell 250k in the US. ok whatever im not going to debate sales becasue its meaningless with that frame of thinking then everything is a flop, the biggest selling album now by Metallica is a fucking flop by their standards, and its outsold almost everyone. So its meaningless to even talk sales in this climate, 75% of people dont even pay for music anymore. And also i think it will sell more then 250,000 its already at 150,000 so give me a break, but whatever its a way better album then the first and thats what matters. And last but not least i could give a F about the USA, its a dead fucking market, anyone that caters to it and tries to push anything there now is dumb, straight up fucking dumb. And if you look around, when people release albums, they arent even doing any kind of promo here , guess why, its OVER in the usa, dead fucking market its not number one anymore, artists know this FINALLY. And btw, this thread was about the song, not about who' selling and who's not, if that was being requested then we could just read the billboard thread [Edited 10/22/08 15:45pm] "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

lastdecember,I hate to say this but I don't think the Pussycat Dolls are gonna be around too much longer.I predict they'll release a few more singles (which will flop) and then call it a day.Nicole will probably try to make a solo album again. They're one of those trendy, fashionable groups that don't have staying power.Their music might be fun but it's also completely disposable.

Well it is what it is, groups come and go, thats life. But im not going to sit down and get worried because a single does well or doesnt. If i like it, thats what matters. PCD is a concept that was put together 16 years ago, and has been around all that time, the group was out together in 2003 and who knows what they will do, but all im saying is LOOK OUTSIDE of america, because it aint happening for pretty much anyone here, they are buying a house in the UK to reside out because of the committments there and the promo. What promo opportunites are there in the USA?? being on Good Morning America? been there done that, and it doesnt do anything for pushing music. You mean it's mature because it has a piano part on it?
I really don't want to explicate too much the only plausible connection with the word "mature" these chicks will be having in the future.

Nicole OWNS that track. I like it! But a nice pop song like this should had been on her solo album. See, I knew there was a reason why Universal were happy to keep her in PCD.

Well regardless of what anyone thinks, I really like this song. I think its great and Nicole gives a great vocal performance in it. I know people hate PCD because they're a manufactured group but hey, about 75% of the "artists" in the music biz are manufactured...if I like a song, then I like it because I think its good, not because the artist is manufactured or not. PCD is good at what they do--which is entertain people and Nicole is one of the better singers out there at the moment. Anywhoo back to the song: its pretty fantastic and IMO one of the best songs of the year. MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent

She really does have a great voice and I think if she had the freedom to record the kind of music that SHE wants to record instead of the crappy hip-hop/pop-R&B that the record label forced her to record, she could be a major superstar in her own right--maybe even give Beyonce a run for her money! Speaking of Beyonce-- I really like the part at the end when Nicole gets emotional, it sounded genuine and not forced. Unlike Beyonce's song "Like a Boy" there's a part at the end where I can tell she's trying to sound emotional and hurt, but it doesnt sound genuine--you can tell its forced. Nicole's emotion sounds more sincere. MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent

Actually that would be mariah and janet and madonna who all bombed, and also did below average albums, but we knew thats what they were going to do. Also, just a quick point, 3 weeks out of release doesnt judge a record, no matter who you are, the OUT OF THE BOX smashes are OVER, if you are looking for that from anyone, get a time capsule and go back to the 1990's cause those days are done, for everyone plain and simple. And for the record, spin this anyway you want, their first cd did sell 2.9 million in the states after (a 3 year tally) but didnt cross 1 million until after 10 months. Totally agree and have said that for so long, I could care less where a song lands, who cares at this point, I mean do the charts really hold weight anymore. It kills me that people are still talking about sales in a time when the industry doesnt sell, my word to people, get used to it, if you are going to look at soundscan to judge your record collection, than enjoy that copy of High School Musical cause thats ALL THAT SELLS at this point. People preach sales like they are getting cuts of the sales, shit, not even the artists are. As for being manufactured, yeah, this group was put together, but so are most groups, Destinys Child was "put together", and very much "manufactured", and so where so many of the artists that are preached and put on pedastols on this forum day in day out. And i agree, this song is one of my favorites of the year, the Live "walmart soundcheck ep" they did that had this song on it is amazing, this is a great live song. I agree, i said this stuff about Alicia Keys too and people always came back with the lame comment of "she sounds like shes straining at times", well, its called doing songs in one or two takes and straight through, not piecing songs together so you always sound perfect and then live you have to sing to your record. Im not going to knock Beyonce, but theres way too much slickness, i WISH she had some "effort" on record, but she doesnt. Nicole's emotion is sincere on the track, and also on another ballad on the record "Happily never After". Dates going into markets that people dont pay attention too, thats $$$ thats what labels want at this point regardless of how they geet it, whether a label makes money on a cd, a fucking ringtone, a fucking endorsement etc,, thats ALL A LABEL cares about. Its a big picture and SOUNDSCAN is but a small % of what is even looked at, this aint the 90's anymore, update the calendar, its a new day, be happy when your artist moves 200-300,000 whoever it may be. You dont dig them or like them or whatever then just ignore them and pay attention to charts which mean nothing at this point and havent for about 20 years. Nicole is a bigger picture because she has been at singing for about 15 years now, i know you judge everyone by the CHARTS but sorry a good song or singer outweighs that bullshit anyday, thats why the artist of this decade is RYAN ADAMS and not fukcing Beyonce. Janet is stuck in another web of having the same theme over and over, the theme of "im janet im sexy im a victim" self indulgent songs over and over with a few OK songs but for the most part her last 3 albums are forgettable. As for "get educated" im talking on how you judge artists and age and all that stuff. I dont judge that way, i dont judge or buy music by charts, never have and never will. A good song is a good song, whether it sells to everyone or to no one, plain and simple, thats what im talking about being "educated" on. And actually Nicole is close to my age, and the song in question is not a song for 12 year olds, in fact none of the songs on the album are, but im not going to even debate on that issue. As for supporting Nicole, i will always, and have since 1997 when i met her singing back up for the group "Days of the new", and i will support her whether she is singing for PCD or singing in a train station for passengers. I also will also give her my opinions on what i think, and i did say that songs with TI and WILL I AM were not good, and said it on this forum more than once, but that is what the label wanted her to do, and they hired ti and will i am to give her those songs. And like i said back then her song with STING "Powers out" was the song to release and what type of song she should be doing and sure enough that song got sold to a commercial for revlon for 1.5 million in endorsements and will be on his upcoming album. And for PCD its a good album, some good songs that i like alot and a few i dont like, case closed, just a freakin pop record, sorry u dont like it or them but hey its a free country, but im not going to discount an artist because of their age, or race or whatever. If thats how you think then so be it. But if you want to broaden your horizons of artists than i suggest not thinking that way.
