It's good to see Patti and the girls together again. Never been a big Patti Labelle fan or anything, but how do you all feel about their new album? I heard the new tracks, "Roll Out" and "Candlelight" and I was a little excited (even though "Roll Out" really didn't impress me one bit.) Anyone buying this one?

I don’t think so. I really liked Funk This. I mean it’s not horrible, it just doesn’t have much uptempo or funk on it for my tastes.

Yeah, much of it sounds like the producer wanted to make them sound modern for today's generation, which isn't a bad thing. Reinvention is good, but it leaves the older fans out in the cold. There isn't one funk-inspired moment on here.

I wish they had let Prince produce several tracks, instead of Lenny.Prince would have given them some hard, gritty funk jams reminiscent of their 70s work.

Prince would be interesting.

I mean this album is not nearly exciting as the best tracks on Crayons. I know that they can tear up a ballad but with a cover like that I was looking for a throwback to Chameleon or something.

Shut the fuck up we get it. You have issues with older black woman. If you knew anything you would know it is a take off on their old look. I am so tired of this B.S with some orgers.

That's all I needed to know right there. That alone, is enough reason for me to leave it sitting in the store.

which isn't a bad thing.

Oh yes it is.

Reinvention is good,

It's good when it's reinvention from disco to funk to rock to house, etc. But when someone reinvents their sound to adapt to today's sound, it don't get no worse.

There isn't one funk-inspired moment on here.

Now I know I'm leaving it in the store. I'm not surprised though. That's why I wish older artists would just stayed retired rather than sellout. At least their reputations wouldn't be ruined.

No it ain't. I don't know why Chaka titled her album "Funk This" because there is no funk on it. The entire thing is either ballads or midtempo songs. "Angel" is decent but it certainly ain't funk. If folks can't speed things up and try to change today's music, they need to just stay retired.

Very falloff

The cover looks great because the ladies look wild as hell. Unlike the majority of today's so-called stars, the ladies actually look like stars. Stars aren't supposed to look like the average joe on the street. A star isn't supposed to have a "I'm just like you" attitude. A star is supposed to have a "I'm better than you" attitude.

The cover looks cheap and accidental.
The design is piss poor and so are the outfits.
Its doesn't convey "I'm better" attitude.
It conveys "I'm unprofessional"

And they look like vultures for god's sake.
