Yeah, much of it sounds like the producer wanted to make them sound modern for today's generation, which isn't a bad thing. Reinvention is good, but it leaves the older fans out in the cold. I mean this album is not nearly exciting as the best tracks on Crayons. I know that they can tear up a ballad but with a cover like that I was looking for a throwback to Chameleon or something. It's good when it's reinvention from disco to funk to rock to house, etc. But when someone reinvents their sound to adapt to today's sound, it don't get no worse. There isn't one funk-inspired moment on here.
Now I know I'm leaving it in the store. I'm not surprised though. That's why I wish older artists would just stayed retired rather than sellout. At least their reputations wouldn't be ruined. Andy is a four letter word. | |
