Jackson dangles baby off balcony

Michael Jackson's shocked fans in Berlin after appearing to dangle a baby from a fifth floor hotel balcony.

The eccentric US pop star had been waving to his German fans when he disappeared back into his room and a few seconds later brought the baby - with a towel covering its head - out onto the veranda.

Holding the baby with one arm he then briefly dangled the infant over the balcony railing of the Adlon Hotel, before hurrying back into his room with the child.

It is not clear if the youngster was one of his own children, Prince or Paris.

There were gasps from the crowd of around 200 fans as it seemed at one stage as if the struggling baby was in danger of falling to the ground.

Jackson was holding the baby with only one hand because he seemed intent on keeping the towel covering its head.

Just inside the hotel room a woman wearing a nanny's uniform smiled and laughed as Jackson rushed the baby back inside.

His close friend Uri Geller didn't seem to believe what had happened. He told ITV News Channel "I was not there to see exactly what he had done, but I can tell you this - Michael is a very responsible father and it's just hard for me to believe that he dangled his son over the railing of his balcony."

"Michael loves his kids and he would never, ever do anything that could put them in danger."

He confirmed that Michael Jackson does have his children with him in Berlin, but said: "Maybe he was dangling come kind of a doll over the railing."

There was also trouble when the star arrived at the Adlon Hotel, which is near Berlin's famous Brandenburg Gate.

He had to fight his way through the crowd of fans to get from his car into the hotel. In the scrum at least one person was injured and a flower pot broken.

Jackson is said to be in Germany on a personal trip although it is thought he will attend the German premiere of the new James Bond Film 'Die Another Day'.

It is also rumoured that he may be given a Bambi lifetime achievement award from the German Burda Publishing house.

The company honours celebrities from the world of entertainment, literature, sports and politics.

he has NO sense of reason.. ALL those pain killers or whatever drug he is on.. has made his brain mush..

and IF anyone tries to "smooth" over this sick PR stunt? or whatever it was.. your totally sick.. and should look at yourself and your mental issues you might have.

They should take ALL 3 of those kids away from him..

I just saw it on FOX News.. and MJ clearly tries to get BOTH of that babies legs over the railing?? when only one leg was over .. MJ lifted higher and got both.. so that poor baby was just hanging out over atleast 3-6 stories up??

If he is that desperate for ANY press.. to put a towel on a 7 month old or so baby.. and then hang him over a railing.. Just to get in the paper? or worst.. be that insane with NO judgement.. Thats TOTALLY SICK!! What EGO.. to almost possible kill a 7 month old.. to get press.

I am done with him totally now.. there is NO "smooth over" crap a public relations department or MORON on any message board can explain this disgusting behavior.

I feel so sorry for all 3 of those kids.. what kind of life are they being showen.. from "mr. victim" "mr blame I never had a childhood"..??

It's just bad for his Career that's all. Michael why do you wanna Damage your Own Career like that? I seriously don't think you'd wanna hurt an Innocent Child like that so holding one over a railing isn't smart. He just wasn't thinking. Accidents do Happen. IMO it was both fucking stupid and irresponsible...he should KNOW by now that everything he does is put under a microscope and the media were waiting for him to do something like this with his kids, so they can justity their slander that MJ is a child abuser! They are showing this footage every half hour, everyone giving him a beat down on that FOX NEW channel!! and believe me the lynching that he got last week is going to NOTHING compared the the storm he is about to face... every child welfare organisation in the US etc are gonna go after him in such a brutal mannner when he returns for his court case.....and just when things about his appearance were dying down. Even fans at various MJ message boards are pissed off at him. IMO this has the echoes of 93 written all over it!

I have to believe he did not mean it but that was a serious, serious mistake and error in judgement.

I think he got Pissed off at everybody with the banners and all and this was his responsebut this is not Good for him. Why do this ? It's Severe and quite damaging and he looks crazy yelling like that. Boy, it was a Big Mistake. Big!

He didn't try to harm his child intentionally. It looked as though he was trying to prop his child up on the railing bars and it's feet didn't touch the bars, or slipped off the bars. It wasn't even for a split second. ANYWAY, he's already issued a written statement addressing the statement which reads: ``I made a terrible mistake,'' he said. ``I got caught up in the excitement of the moment. I would never intentionally endanger the lives of my children.''


And, almost all fathers do stupid shit like this. They think they've got a good grip and nothing will happen. The act of tossing a child in the air, as shown on tv, and commonly done(my father used to always toss me in the air), is just as dangerous.

BERLIN (AP) . Michael Jackson made an appearance outside his Berlin hotel and briefly held his youngest child over a fourth-floor balcony Tuesday in front of dozens of fans waiting below.

The boy, his legs kicking, had what appeared to be a white cloth over his head as Jackson, holding the child with one arm around his waist, held him out over the iron rail of the balcony of the luxurious Adlon Hotel.

The child, wearing a baby blue jumper, is the reclusive singer's third and youngest, Prince Michael II, said Antje Sigesmund, a spokeswoman for the Bambi entertainment award ceremony, which Jackson is attending in Berlin.

The act stunned some people who saw it transmitted on television, and on Tuesday night Jackson issued a written statement saying he had gotten carried away when fans below the window asked to see the baby.

``I made a terrible mistake,'' he said. ``I got caught up in the excitement of the moment. I would never intentionally endanger the lives of my children.''

Several scenes of Jackson's visit to the German capital . including the display of his son . were featured on national primetime German news, a sign of the King of Pop's enduring popularity in Europe.

The Chicago-based advocacy group Prevent Child Abuse America criticized Jackson's behavior, though it said the boy did not appear to be harmed.

``It is a painful reminder that even the most well-intentioned among us sometimes act in ways that put children in danger of being abused or neglected,'' said A. Sidney Johnson, president and CEO of the group.

Fans had gathered outside the hotel, just opposite Berlin's landmark Brandenburg Gate, and security had to remove some from the lobby. Several carried banners, including one that said ``Save the Kids,'' with drawings of children's faces, a reference to Jackson's philanthropy.

Another said ``Really good to see you.''

Jackson, wearing a bright red shirt, smiled and waved to the fans, then tossed a small white towel to the crowd below. The singer then went inside and retrieved the toddler, using one arm to hold the boy, who kicked his legs, out over the balcony rail.

Fans cheered as the pop star appeared with the child, but Jackson quickly retreated into his hotel room without making any statement.

Little is known about Prince Michael II. People Magazine reported in August that he was six months old. The magazine, citing an anonymous friend, said the boy was not adopted and did not identify the mother.

The singer also has two children with ex-wife Debbie Rowe: a 5-year-old boy . also named Prince Michael . and a 4-year-old girl, Paris. The couple divorced in 1999.

In Berlin, Jackson was taking a break from a California courtroom where he testified last week in a $21 million lawsuit claiming he backed out of concerts. He arrived in Berlin to pick up a Bambi for life achievement Thursday.

He is to attend a benefit for homeless children and a charity auction where he will put a jacket and hat on the block Wednesday.

I do believe that Michael does in fact get caught up in the moment (eg. dissing TM, MTV awards misunderstanding etc) but what he doesn't realise is that the damage has been done because of who he is and what has happened in his past. Do you seriously think the news services are gonna report on his apology in the same manner they did with that tape? HELL NO! The same thing happened just last week with the his first day at court (they ignored how he looked on day 2 & 3)...had he not wore a band aid it wouldn't have made world news etc Its almost like MJ is giving a scandal on a plater for the media feast on. The bottom line is this, Michael made a very, very stupid mistake and now he has to deal with the consquences.

Exactly,Michael Jackson is not some crazy nut who would do that. He got excited and didn't think.

I wonder what Michael gonna do next week? Animal cruelty, robbing clowns at gun point...ROFLAMO its never dull week in the world of MJ.
