You can always hear Stevie wrote it or co-wrote it by the way the chords progress.along with the melody and then the unexpected chord or melody twists.

have you got the perfect pitch? do you hear the chords?? Of course you hear the chords! What else would you be hearing? "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

The poster was talking about the chord progressions, not the actual chords themselves. You don't need perfect pitch to follow the progression and notice when there's an unusual chord. Sorry graecophilos if I wasn't clear but that's what I meant, Just like some singers can do something really unexpected with their voice and surprise you, (positively) or catch you off guard that's what a Stevie Wonder composition does too, a lot.(not always) Sometimes you think ti goes this way and then it goes a totally different way musically than what you would expect, that's what I love about Stevie Wonder. This is real cool!!!! "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
