You are assuming that that pac is really dead. I personally believe he's on some island chillin' and raking in the dough. That said, the comparison of Lennon to pac is the most apples and oranges I've ever heard.

When Tupac was murdered, we lost a great rap artist and poet, but you'd never know it. Since his death "he" has released countless cd's and books of poetry and lyrics.

When John Lennon was murdered 28 years ago, we lost an incredible artist, activist and musician. Yet, since his death, we've had maybe two tracks that they "found" with muddled sound remastered with the other Beatles adding their voices and instruments to create a "new" release. (And to help sell the Beatle's Anthology.) Too bad John didn't have the foresight to record tons of material that we could have had the pleasure of listening to all these years later.

Not to question or demean Tupac's work, as I've always loved his style of writing... it's just amazing to me that he has such a tremendous body of work that he left us all these years later.

Makes me think of Prince, too. How much of his music that we've never heard that's stored in his infamous "vault". Music we'll only hear long after he's gone, unless he decides to take it with him. And you know Prince, he just may... lol.

Anyway, I was thinking... I'd sure love to hear some new Lennon. I miss his voice... and in today's turbulent times, I could use his outlook on life...

Not to hate on Tupac, but c'mon he rapped over other peoples best music.

No Tupac song is half as good as a Lennon b-side

if you took every recorded conversation Lennon had (much more intesting imo)and put other peoples best music to it, you would have Lennon albums till the end of time. cool
ohh and by the way, its called milking something till its dry, rappers surviving families have to eat too.

Right on Violetblues! You took the words right out of my mouth. Both men are dead, which is unfortunate, but that's as far as the comparison goes.

I am voluntarily adding the disclosure "this is ALL SUBJECTIVE". In my mind, Tupac was much better at what he did than Lennon. The title is true: John Lennon Was No Tupac...

Well, he spent most of 1975-1979 out of the spotlight, then did a couple albums right before he died. So he was probably off of it in the end of his life, but I doubt he ever actually spent much time drug-free.

Uh uh... I'm merely using a "play on words". In no way am I comparing the two as artists, at all. I'm merely pointing out the material left behind by each artist and what's been released, thus far, after their respective deaths.

That's the only comparison that I've done. Each artist, John and Tupac, were the best in their fields, imo... there's no hatin' on either of them here.

Ultimately, and finally, it's a thread about missing John Lennon.
