Phrasing is all about singing a line as if you were communicating and speaking with someone. You wouldn't breathe in the middle of a word when doing this, would you? Her performance is weak and very faux heartfelt. This is not a benchmark at all.

Classic phrasing...Sinatra, Stevie circa early 70s and don't forget the masters at this...Aretha and Donny, God bless them.

I will say that i listened to it a few more times. I do think that, there were a few moments where she oversang some things a bit...but, the 'young-ins' tend to do that ...especially at a talent show audition to try to show what they can do. And yeah, i wish they wouldn't take that approach at all because that's not what its about(IMO)..but unfortunately many of them do...they feel 'over-singing"= "good singing" or "connecting", when in fact, its the other way around more often than not. But all that said, on the whole, I think she took a pretty straight forward approach for the most part and, in my opinion, she DID connect honestly with it in the end...with the right direction, yes i'd wanna hear more from this kid...

Yup, I DO think the kid did a stand-up job. Kid's got a beautiful voice, and for the most part, nervous as she probably was, she kept it mostly simple and straightforward and, in my opinion, in the end of that 90 seconds, yes, she connected with it...

It's not technical, phrasing is how you communicate with the listener. You're seriously underestimating the importance of it.

Again, this girl is very average. No connection with the lyrics at all.

Alot of vocalists put their foot on the technical side of singing in the name of perfection SO much, they 4get about the emotional side.

Balance takes you along way,,,,,but I'll take the emotional side over the technical side in a HEARTBEAT.

Was she better than MOST of the over-singing, faux emotional folk who are often on these type of talent shows? yup, i will say that. Thats the point i was trying to make.

I`m glad the judges aren`t that harsh, that they would pass on every idol-contestant who doesn`t have a voice like Donny Hathaway or Aretha Franklin....

I would rather compare her to Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood. Compared to those girls, LouLou Lamotte have a much more unique voice.
